If you've been to the Vineyard, you will know the Black Dog. I stopped by for dinner on my last night on the island, it was about half an hour wait for a table for one. Service was pleasant and I appreciated the warm bread to start. Their legendary quahog chowder was great, the garlic crusted catfish from their 'Summer... More

The Black Dog Tavern on Martha's Vineyard has excellent food, and great service. It's located right on the water, and is close to shopping in Vineyard Haven.

The Black Dog Tavern a part of the Vineyard mystique. Food excellent, staff good. Be prepared to wait if you do not get there early. Suggest you buy their cookbook, excellent recipes.

Our breakfast was a major disappointment. Started off with water served in a cracked plastic glass dripping through the table onto my foot. The waiter was nowhere to be found so went up to the service table and took care of the problem. My wife ordered toast that was hardly toasted, more like stale bread. I ordered their signature home... More

Tasty fish and chips enjoyed harbor side in this cozy tavern. Place was busy but on a Saturday we were sat right away in my favorite spot!

The atmosphere, location and theming are the main reasons for visiting Black Dog; however the food is surprisingly good and not overpriced - everything was cooked exactly as we asked and particular highlights were the Steak Tips and Salmon fillet. Well worth visiting.

Don't fill up on the bread loaf! We wish we split the Lobster Roll! It was loaded and our server was on top of her game. Excellent view of harbor. Nice spot near the ferry

Great location, good service. Expected a tourist experience, but was happy to enjoy a nice tasty lunch. Loved the lobster roll, which was enough for two and loaded with huge chunks of lobster.

The Black Dog is a staple on Martha's Vineyard that you almost have to visit on any trip there. It's in a great location right on Vineyard Haven Harbor, so if you're near the window there are great views. The food is just okay and the service is almost always lacking, but it is a fun place to go so... More

great selection, awesome food. disappointed we couldn't get a bloody mary with brunch, but had a great time anyway. We knew that when we arrived to find an hour's wait for a table the food would be worth it.
