Very good experience!

My Wife and I landed here after the Ferry ride from Woods Hole and we were very happy with our time here. She had Mussels and Lobster, I had clam chowder and a fish special. Our waitress went over and above for us, even offering to move us to a window table during before our entree's showed up! (we... read more

I have been stopping by the Black Dog every few years since it opened in 1971(?). Although things change as they must, the feeling I get when eating there remains the same. Homely New England food and a great spot to eat it in. The service was good, timely and pleasant and the prices remain constantly Marthas Vineyard high, but... More

Went there a few times and really liked this place. My husband still says it was his best lobster that he has ever had.

Why is this place so famous? I've been three times over the years and only once had a meal I was pleased with. That being said, each time I've been the wait for the food is extremely long. (Do not go here with kids) The prices are average for Martha's Vineyard. This most recent time, I had the chowder (5/10),... More

I had gotten several recommendations to hit up the Black Dog while in the vineyard. The chowder was a hit, we had lunch there twice and I had to have the chowder. Delish!!!

Wonderful sea food restaurant in vineyard haven. Very charming and overlooking the water this place is very romantic. They specialize in whole lobster (which I had) which was delicious. Keep in mind Vinyard Haven is a "dry town" which means you can only buy wine and beer and only at restaurants.

We also had the home made blueberry crumble, which wss excellent. Best I have had in a long while. The decor is cool in... More

Our table by the window was hardly large enough for our cod and chips and baked lobster, bread board and wine of course. Warning - do not go mad with the wonderful bread or you will not be able to finish the main meal. great service and ambiance.

Apparently this 'Black Dog' was meant to be fabulous! It was recommended to us by a local and a tour guide. This place had all the makings of a great location, only about 10 feet from the sea and a lovely maritime interior based on maritime traditions. We were brought to our table in a very rushed manner by a... More
