Amazing Food, Open in the Off-Season

Had the chowder and the fish and chips. My husband had a side of amazing veggies and a fantastic salad. Everything was AMAZING. The chowder was just sublime! You have to stop here if you come to the vineyard. Dining right on the water. Just lovely. This was really the highlight of our off-season... read more

The view from the dining area is nice but the food is terrible. I usually think places with open kitchens produce good food but that was not the case here. My eggs benedict was sour, I substituted the Canadian Bacon with a sausage patty and it the patty was gray and dry! My boyfriend's burrito did not have any flavor... More

$100 for two fish and chips, a turkey burger and one dessert. That is the price you pay for having no other choices in the off season. I realize this place is famous, but, like so many things on MV, you are paying for hype and not quality. It is hard to enjoy a modest meal when paying such immodest... More

The Black Dog has become our go-to breakfast place, especially in the off season. Quick service, great view of the harbor, very good food and generous portions. It's a treat every time we go...which when you're on a weight reduction plan, is much too often. But hey, life is short, right?

The BD has as salty an atmosphere as any I have visited. The decor is all real, not found in a catalogue, made to look old. The owners are steeped in maritime lore to a degree not often achieved. The food is appetizing, and amply portioned. The Menu has a variety that will suit every pallet...

Five other couples joined us for dinner at the Black Dog on 2/14/15. The service was professional and everyone said their food was very good. My prime rib was excellent. Great atmosphere as always. We asked for six separate checks and the waitress handles that with no problem at all.

The Black Dog lives up to its reputation as a GoTo stop on MV. The food is always excellent and we especially love the Breakfast Menu. Grab a seat by a window and watch the seashore as you enjoy excellent coffee and an excellent breakfast. Always Fair prices and good service.

Always a positive visit. Staff are friendly, warm and attentive. Food reliably good with generous portions. Wine menu very good and reasonably priced.

A recent visit on a cold winter evening was significantly marred by a freezing cold room; most diners kept their coats on the entire time! The baseboard heaters were working, and there was a space heater in use to warm a particularly chilly corner, but those efforts were not nearly enough. We mentioned this when we sat down, and the...
