My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our first (and certainly not our last) visit to this quaint second floor restaurant to celebrate my wife's special birthday. Gracious hospitality, fantastic food and service, and to top it off, a celebratory dance for my wife compliments of Chef Dupon! more

My husband and I went here with friends who have a summer home on Martha's Vineyard. They love Le Grenier, and given that they are very good cooks, we expected an impressive meal. Boy, were we disappointed! The owner may be French, but this was about the worst French food I've ever had. A clue to a good restaurant is... more

We've been coming here for 15 years. It is solid, uncompromising old-school French Cuisine. The sauces are amazing. We have never once had a bad or less than wonderful meal. The setting is not terribly formal, dress is "vineyard casual" - no ties/jackets. It used to be lawn furntiture but a few years ago they upgraded. The chef has been... more

We love French cuisine and are familiar with preparation of French food. My husband ordered the soft shell crabs in brown butter and I ordered the duck L'Orange. His dish was clearly burnt and tasted of ash. The woman running the dining room said that was how it was supposed to taste. The duck was dried out. There is a... more

Le Grenier is a very well-established restaurant in Vineyard Haven and its food and decor match its classic tradition. We ate mid-week, still able to take advantage of an off-season prix-fixe menu at a cost of $35.00 for 3 courses. (this is not available in season) I started with French Onion soup which was excellent, broth was flavorful without being... more

anywhere for a good meal

If you want to "chew and screw"...don't choose Le Grenier. This is a very fine, very laid back, very consistent choice for a wonderful meal. BYOB...no liquor licenses in Vineyard Haven...and then select one of each course. The chef/owner has been here for 30 years, year round, and his investment of time and money..and love for his craft, shows everywhere.... more

I hate to say this about any place, but the food was poor and the service abysmal. Though there was a Frenchman in the kitchen here, the food bore no resemblance to anything I've ever had in France (and I used to live there). The low quality/freshness of ingredients and the execution were not up to the ambitious menu. In... more

Located in Vineyard Haven they are unable to serve any alcohol and that includes wine. However, you can bring your own. This creates a bigger problem for this establishment in that its profits are diminshed without alcohol and therefore they need to make it up on the entree's. Lower food quality but high prices leads to a less than satisfactory... more

I have had many opportunities to dine here over the years and by far Le Grenier has the most succulent, enjoyable french cuisine on the east coast. I would like to point out one particular item of note I have noticed over the years of dining here: The escargot are cooked to perfection, never chewy or tough and absolutely swimming... more
