Good place to stay for the night and/or to have a meal at any time of day. Fine New England Cooking, good service, nice ambiance in this old Inn. they also accommodate large groups and receptions. conveniently located whether en route farther west or south to NY and CT.

If, like most people, you love turkey but only have it once a year, head to the Publick House where it is on the menu daily. Fresh, whole turkeys -- not deli-type breast meat other places call turkey. It is delicious and includes all the fixings. Other items on the menu are excellent, as well. The atmosphere is relaxing and... More

Stopped for breakfast. Beautiful landscaped grounds. And that New England charm. Older building, when walking through the hotel, one might think that you could bump into John Adams, or Benjamin Franklin. Food was average. Home fry's were disappointing, but the beacon and sausage was great. Omelet was cooked to order by the chef. Oops. Forgot to mention on Sunday its... More

The Publick House dates back to 1772, and from the moment you enter one of the many dining rooms, you almost think you are back then. There food is traditional "Yankee"; lobster pie, pot roast. turkey dinner (or hot turkey sandwich), through roast beef. We have lived in Sturbridge for over 40 years and have eaten at the Publick House... More

We had dinner at the Publick House during a trip to Sturbridge Village. It was very charming and fit the atmosphere of the restoration beautifully. The food was amazing and the portions were huge! The waitstaff were so friendly and warm.

A quaint place with all the charm of colonial America. The tables show a patina of wear that adds to the ambience. The menu has choices ranging from "comfort food" like Thanksgiving style turkey dinners and pot pies (large enough to share and yummy!) to updated trends (lobster mac 'n cheese). A "shout out" to our waitress, Emily who did... More

We ordered the turkey dinner meal, the starter choice was a caesar salad, a chowder or French onion soup, deciding to be healthy we ordered the soup, what arrived was a thick soup with some onion covered in 3/4 inch of gloopy nasty cheese. Fortunately the bread basket that accompanied it was to a far higher standard. The turkey dinner... More

We visited the Publick House for the first time recently. Having lived in New England for several decades, we had some idea what an old historic Restaurant and Inn would be like. Located in Sturbridge, MA, not far off highway Rt 84, we were not disappointed. Regardless of which entrance was used-front entrance, or from the back parking lot, dinner... More

We had Jim the waiter, who really must be in training. Order a bottle of wine and he brought 3 full glasses of wine (it was cheaper than the bottle). So now he brought the bottle opened it and never as anyone to taste it and then proceeded to pour a very full glass of wine for each of us.... More
