We lunch with friends each year when we vacation in the Berkshires; they are from Boston area and this is the perfect half way point for a day of lunch and conversation. No question that the main feature is the historic building and setting of Publick House itself, although the food and service are very good and always satisfying. Large... More

On a trip to Mass for a family matter, stopped on a Sunday evening for dinner as we were passing by. We were seated promptly in the main dining room. Our server was courteous and attentive (i.e. water glasses filled regularly). Bread basket was stocked with warm, fresh, and tasty dinner rolls, sticky buns, cornbread, and banana nut bread (all... We have made it an annual tradition to have lunch in the Tavern each year after the holidays but unfortunately yesterday will be our last visit! Our experience began when we put our name on the waiting list with the very unfriendly hostess, JoAnne. She has been there for years and we joke each year about how she really should... More

We dined at the Publick house on 01/16. Although they had several weddings going, on we had impeccable service in the pub. Decor is very much from the time period it represents, and the food is hearty, delicious and plentiful.

We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and although the place was empty when we got there it was packed when we left. The ambience is very cozy and comfort food is the specialty. ( For some reason they didn't have a fire lit in the beautiful fireplace though.) Our server seemed inexperienced and we felt rushed overall. The... More

The first time I went here was with my daughter. We went at lunch time on a weekday and must have lucked out as we were able to walk right into the Tap Room. When we got there, we were the only people in the restaurant. By the time we finished lunch, the restaurant was pretty full. The food was... More

Busy restaurant when we went - make reservations or don't hold your breath that you'll get seated. Great bakery. Lovely food and huge portion sizes (none of us finished our food) but with so many people it was obvious the server was a bit distracted and overwhelmed.

This lovely restaurant couldn't be more welcoming and especially on the stormy day on which we arrived. Easily reached from the highway, it is a perfect place for the weary traveler. Charming servers and interesting menu choices make this restaurant extra special!
