Good food and interesting atmosphere

I had eaten here years ago and didn't feel compelled to return but when massive traffic snarled the 84/Mass Pike interchange this was a convenient stopping point for dinner. The dining room is quaint, old style wide plank floors and lots of antique furniture. We ordered several entrees and... read more

I never seem to actually finish my meal, but this was so good and tasty I finished it all. I had lentil vegetable soup, salad and salmon. Salad was very fresh, salmon had a delicious passion fruit sauce and the soup was very tasty. Will definitely come back next time we are in the area.

My sister and I stopped for the night in Sturbridge, Mass. We asked around for restaurants to meet both of our needs, she is a committed carnivore and I am a wheat free vegetarian. I was a little worried as we approached the Publick House. It looks like a very traditional, New England establishment, which to me, meant problems. What... More

In 2014 my wife, daughter and I attended Thanksgiving Dinner at the Publick House. It was a buffet dinner that was excellent, well prepared and lots of it. Previously, we had experienced both their Christmas decoration and their Christmas buffet. It is always a wonderful expereince to drive by the Inn in the evening around Christmas. Usually there is snow... More

If you are anything like me, I'm tired of chain restaurants with the same menus. Publick house offers home cooking like Yankee pot roast, turkey dinners, homemade chicken pot pies and so much more. I left satisfied and am looking forward to having dinner there again on an upcoming trip. You won't be disappointed in the service or the food.... More

The front of house staff, including our server, were really pleasant, but our dinners took more than 45 minutes to arrive, and when they did, the vegetables were overcooked and the plates looked like they'd sat under a heat lamp for awhile. It would have been nice to have a replacement drink while we waited so long....

Very comfortable rustic setting. Great service. Great food. We had comfy padded high back chairs which added to the comfort. Overall, very nice experience.

Really enjoyed the food. A couple in our group had the thanksgiving dinner others pot roast steak and lamb. If someone orders the lamb in your group it takes a long time. The rolls they provided we dinner sweet and carmel. They were also good. The portions were large.

Just to make it totally clear - I rated the Publick House restaurant very good for its ambiance not necessarily its food. I stayed at the Publick House and ate dinner and breakfast at the main restaurant. The inn has been here since 1771 and trust me when you are in the dining room you can feel the history. The... We dined here on a recent FRiday night and had a very good experience. I had the prime rib which was substantial, cooked perfectly and very tasty. My wife had the Crab Cake which was huge and very good as well. The service was fine.
