We visited the Publick House for the first time recently. Having lived in New England for several decades, we had some idea what an old historic Restaurant and Inn would be like. Located in Sturbridge, MA, not far off highway Rt 84, we were not disappointed. Regardless of which entrance was used-front entrance, or from the back parking lot, dinner... More

We had Jim the waiter, who really must be in training. Order a bottle of wine and he brought 3 full glasses of wine (it was cheaper than the bottle). So now he brought the bottle opened it and never as anyone to taste it and then proceeded to pour a very full glass of wine for each of us.... More

I went to Publick house with a party of 4 on a Monday evening. We were seated immediately. Man, what a cool place to have a restaurant. Our waitress was great and provided excellent service. I ordered the Caesar Salad and appetizer size of the lobster mac and cheese. The prices were reasonable and the dinner breads brought out to... More

I was apprehensive going to historic restaurant, thinking of tired food, slow service, set in a historic setting and nothing else. Well, our visit proved that a well managed restaurant can last through many generations. Yes, the inn is old but it is well maintained, at least for the restaurants and other public areas (we did not stay overnight). Our... More

Please note this review is only for the brunch buffet. We have been here often for the brunch buffet and enjoyed it very much. The buffet has a wide variety of items. It is a good value.

We ate in the Tap Room which is a very olde worlde restaurant - very difficult to find within a rabbit warren of an hstoric builbing - unlike most of our US experiences. We were advised to book, which we did, but we picked a very quiet night the day after 4th July. Our mature waitress was most attentive and... More

The restaurant is in a beautiful historic building. You park in the back and enter through a bakery/gift shop where there is a small seating area. The dining room has hard wood floors and is very quaint. Some tables have wing back chairs and some tables have wooden chairs. The server was a very tall gentleman with a very dry... More

The Publick House is an enjoyable night out. Staff seems quite confused, yet they work extremely well together. Food is delicious & the portions are generous. Plan on a leisurely meal, as our experience lasted over 2 hours.

I recommend a meal here for everyone. The wooden dining room takes you through time. Not to mention every day can be Thanksgiving.
