We live about an hour away from here and it has become our go-to for family events and out of town guests. Food and service are dependably good for the price and we always enjoy the homey, comfortable atmosphere. One year we went the day after Thanksgiving and staff were a little less attentive than usual, but other than that... More

We have been going here for years and I am pleased to say it is still a place to get a very nice dinner in a historic setting. We decided to try the tavern this trip as we and not eaten there in a long time. The menu is the same as the main dining room. We both had the... More

We love dining here! Our most recent visit did not disappoint. Our waitress, Lauren, was energetic, attentive and friendly! Everything was delicious, from the scrumptious basket of rolls and corn bread to the moist salmon and thick juicy prime rib. Love the atmosphere from the uneven, creaky, wood floors to the beautiful fire place! We will definitely be back!

I don't know why, but last Friday night I was in the mood for New England Colonial dining. You know; exposed beams, big fireplace, good hot "stick to your ribs" kind of food. I went surfing on the net and found the Publick House Inn in Sturbridge. Now to be fair I've eaten there before and it was always good,... More

I really like this place. We stop here several times a year, but I have to admit we are in a rut when it comes to the menu. It's usually the turkey dinner or pot roast dinner with all the trimmings. The pumpkin bisque was delicious. The dinners are as about as close to home cooking as possible. The pumpkin... More

I recently had the great pleasure of dining with dear NE friends at the famous and very historic Publick House Inn. The history-lover in me was absolutely charmed and delighted by this 18th Century Inn and its storied past dating to pre_Revolutionary War times. The ambiance made me feel transported back to colonial times. The food and huge portions thereof... More

Eight of us dine here once every other November as part of a business alumni group. We always chose this tap room because of geographic convenience, as each of us travels 60-90 minutes to gather for dinner and festiveness. After years of tired food and service, the downstairs tap room has vastly improved. Service was spot on. No reservations are... More

Visited this lovely inn for a luncheon and wasn't disappointed. We were seated in the historic main dining room full of artifacts from long ago and took a step back in time for a few hours. Our waitress was wonderful , young and vibrant. We had the special buy one get one free meal which is a fantastic deal. For an additional... More

Took my friend here for her birthday...great choice. Lovely surroundings (a place like this is in its milieu in the autumn). We were the first there for lunch and were seated at a table for two with huge armchairs (so big my friend had to use the back cushion as a booster They offered to move us but we liked... More

Made reservation and was seated immediately. The decor is just plain lovely, going back to another day long ago. Dinner was good, fish for me, pot roast ( much, much ) for my wife. Sadly we could not take leftover to hotel. Do not miss out on New England chowder (top shelf). Overall a good experience.
