I recommend going here for a date or with one or two friends to have a conversation. Not a bar to meet and mingle, everyone seemed to be caught up in their own party. The atmosphere is nice, the prices are typical for Boston. They have a decent drink selection, which are sometimes served in mason jars (all playing into... More

We came for dinner (partly because they had last minute reservations available and partly because I'd wanted to try the place). I have heard that people who came for just drinks have had a better time. The decor and service were both fine. Its entrance is an unmarked door under a theater sign (not the main movie theater). The food... More

A friend showed me where this speakeasy was in Davis Sq. Very cool vibe and friendly service. The atmosphere was very good for a date which I was on. My only critique would be the lack of drink, beer and wine selections. This my first time in this sort of bar, and I did notice there was an extensive whiskey... More

This place is great for drinks and appetizers! Everyone liked their cocktails (the Amelia Earhart was delicious) and the boursin pickled peppers were fantastic. The $5 bread basket was a waste despite the promising description. I had the squash risotto which was good but a bit bland. My friends both enjoyed their salmon and pork shank. Good dinner but a... This place has wonderful food. I loved their devils on horseback and the fish dishes. The night I went I had hake on a brick which was a white fish in flaky pastry with a lemon butter sauce. Delicious! The deserts are also delightful. My favorite part of Saloon is the location. It has a hidden speak easy feeling. The... More

We took our son here for his birthday. The drinks menu is outstanding so if that is the mail goal of your meal, this is definitely the right venue! The place also looks great--they have transformed a basement location into a swank bar set--lots of fun! The food, while good and tasty, is not in any way unusual. My daughter... More

Never go on. Fri night...Never go if you are a vegetarian...never go for a date night! Pace was jam packed and super duper noisy! I bet worse than 10 KG classes...if it was music you can tolerate but this was bad noise. The table was smaller than my son's high chair tray... I ordered risotto...which was ok...but I did not... This is as close to a 1920s joint you can find - in atmosphere, music, food, and drinks. The cocktails are small, well crafted, and potent, just like they originally were (so I've read). Food selection is limited but great. My only concern is the lack of a rum selection, but the whiskeys are great. A tip: if you sit... More

They're going for a prohibition-era speakeasy vibe, and it works! The door is unmarked and the lower level location is dark and mysterious. The only indication that a great restaurant and bar is below you when you walk by is a small lamp on the building that says "Saloon." Once you find it, the place is a gem. The drink... More

When this place opened a few years ago, my friends and I were there opening weekend and it was packed. We celebrated my birthday there a few months back and it was still packed. Saloon has a cool speakeasy feel to it, and the giant bar is beautiful. The cocktails are actually delicious, we've drank our way through the whole... More
