Best swordfish on the planet

A beautiful restaurant with a choice of heading into the main dining room, which is a little more dressy, or heading over to the pub side. The food is the same, but the pub is more casual. Great food, great service and fantastic swordfish.

The month of November was spent hunting truffles, drinking wine and tasting the newly pressed olive oil...now we were home and wanted Barker's swordfish. Saturday night, early December and by 5:00 p.m. the bar was already with a line out the door! Seems everyone yearned for the same thing: Swordfish and Colin's narrative . What strikes me the most (along... More

celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary with extended family (6 in all). Had soup and small ceasars salads, beef tournedos, two halibut specials, NY sirloin, prime rib, seafood pasta, pecan pie, ice cream and flourless cakes. All food and service were outstanding. Prices were a little high $345 without tip but I guess for this quality one must not expect fast... More

Received a gift certificate for this restaurant which I had never heard of. Tough to find--really off the beaten path but someplace very special. Imagine a tavern founded in 1634!?! The manage could not have been nicer, seating us right away, even without a reservation (note* a very busy place--plan this meal at least a week in advance). Our server,... More

Dinner at this reliably good restaurant the night before Thanksgiving. It delivered as always. Best Indian Pudding ever, lots of seafood in entrée, all was wonderful. Lovely historic building with charming ambiance.

Children of founder/owner have altered our favorite family-oriented/friendly restaurant, especially after removing long-time maitre'd & asst of many years service. Atmosphere now cool & indifferent. Outstanding food now not so much. We had previously held every family special event & daughter's wedding there. No more.

Love the Pub but the Restaurant has a special feel and service to it. Well managed and with fine dining servers, this is Scituate's premier place. Nice menu. A little pricey but great food, service and atmosphere

This was a birthday celebration. The atmosphere here is always lovely. It is quiet. I like that the kitchen is not visible and you can't hear all the clatter of pots and pans which seems to be the new style for modern restaurants. The restaurant itself is a beauty of an antique with the beamed ceilings etc. The tables have... More

This is, for my wife and I, the special event place, birthdays, anniversaries. The setting, the atmosphere are just outstanding. The food is fabulous although now we just always get the swordfish. It is unlike anywhere else. My wife will not eat it anywhere else as she is convinced she will be disappointed. The service is outstanding. It is not... More
