Excellent choice for a small group function

This was our first time dining at the Dan'l Webster Inn. We chose this to host a weekend engagement luncheon. We had a private room (for a fee), which was excellent for our party of 12. We always go to the Daniel Webster when we are in the area. We usually spend a night or two during dark winter days when we need a lift and the Webster always lifts us from the doldrums. Our last dinner was not as spectacular as previous visits; we both had the lamb steak which was very peppery and not... More

Not much fun to write a poor review but this place earned it. Service was excellent. Food was not. The chowder was so thick, it seemed like porridge. My friend sent his entree back for more cooking after stating he wanted it well cooked. Mine was just not good. Maybe it was a bad night but I will not return.

We have contacted this guest via private message. Although we are glad to hear that the service was excellent; we'd like more information on the food issues. We can only improve when we know about the opportunities. We sincerely appreciate the comments from climber06 and hope to have him try us again. While visiting Sandwich, Ma you must try The Dan'l Webster. A great place to stay so close to Sandwich CENTER, the boardwalk, the Cape Cod Canal, and many other things. Great large rooms and a restaurant that's Old Cape Cod. We loved it You will too.

Have been going to the Dan'l Webster for many years. Today could be my last time. Mother's Day menu was extremely expensive, misleading and the portion was very small. Pasta was undercooked (no it wasn't al dente) and had to be sent back, only to come back the same way. "Spring" vegetables were almost raw chunks of large carrot and... More

Went for a business meeting on May 1; we arrived just before the peak lunch time so seating was not an issue. I had actually packed my lunch that day but was pulled to this meeting, so I decided to have a little fun at lunch. I heard that their Chicken Pot Pie is "da bomb," so I opted to... More

We traveled from Boston to meet our real estate attorney for a quick dinner to sign some papers. We only had burgers, fries and the pickled vegetables but this was THE BEST tavern meal I have had in a long time!! It was SO full of taste it was absolutely delicious I didn't want it to be over. My wife and I ate in the tavern the evening of 4/29/15. Nice colonial atmosphere. Service was slow. Had to cancel my drink order as the wait for it was becoming too long. Salads were very good. My single biggest complaint was the French fries. They came pre-salted, and heavily salted at that. This was high blood pressure, aorta-burst event... More
