Friendly staff and good food

we jumped off the highway as we were headed to Maine for a late lunch and we're pleased with the food and service. The staff were very friendly, we had a turkey club and a Key West salad, both were very good. We noticed almost all the regulars were ordering the special seasoned fries. Next time... read more

Have driven by this place many times and never stopped. we were staying in Newburyport attending an event at the Topsfield Fairgrounds. We ate her on 2 different occasions. The Food was well prepared, Seafood was excellent and their Nachos made with Potato's in place of Chips were a nice find. Excellent chowder ! Give this place a try, Appears... More

We went with high expectations for a corned beef dinner on St.Patrick's day and were highly disappointed. We were served the most bland meal imaginable. The vegetables were under done and lukewarm. They had no flavor whatsoever. The corned beef was paper thin and though it lacked flavor it wasn't tough. The whole plate was watery because nothing was drained.... More

The atmosphere is pleasant. The menu extensive. Our waitress offered rolls while we made our choices. White cotton batting would describe them. Not a great experience. That being said our nachos were good. Hot from the oven served with dipping salsa and sour cream. My companion got shepards pie that came in a large dish and was more than enough... More

We went on a could night after our major storm, it was cold, then when they said they turned the heat on we got a cold blast, as if someone opens a door. Froze us and the food. Never did warm up. Food, we had clam chowder, thin broth very tasty, I had a cup all broth no ingredients. My... More

For years we loved this place for great inexpensive meals. In the last year, this place has declined substantially. We have to ask for the fries to be 'extra crispy' in order to get them cooked. Even the burgers got lousy; cold, no toasted bun. With one exception, the bar staff are inattentive and make a lousy drink. On my... More

Ate here a few weeks ago on a Tuesday night. Our server, a young male, was waiting tables on his first day, he should not of been. Our sons sprite came in a regular glass and not a kids cup. My large water was never delivered. Asked for an empty cup for my son's soda and we received a kid's... More

We ate here about a year ago and it seemed like the place was ready to go out of business. The food was bland at best, the ceiling tiles looked worn, and overall there was this sense of decline and despair in the business. Yesterday we came it looked like they had turned things around completely! The food was delicious,... More

Spud's has been my parents favorite place to eat for years. But then again, my Dad liked their liver and onions... go figure. Sometimes a good restaurant experience comes from knowing how to order. I read some of the other reviews and have to chuckle. First thing I do in a new restaurant is to ask the staff what their... More
