Four of us dined at the Grand Cafe and enjoyed the experience very much. The food was wonderful and we were told the chef had come in May. Hopefully he/she will stay. We dined on the porch and felt the service was good. The food for all of us was presented very tastefully ..an opinion we all shared. The menu... More

Finally, after several years, the Emerson has a new Chef whose food is quite good. Having frequented the restaurant many times, I only wish they could get their act together. With the exception of several seasoned wait staff personal, everyone else is sweet, but clueless. Having had a 7 PM reservation, we were not seated until 7:50. Had we not... More

My husband and I are -- we'll admit it '' foodies." And we were won over. I had two kinds of duck; my husband had the file. Both were excellent, service was efficient and kind, and all was served on a screened in porch overlooking a long lawn and the ocean. (Did I mention the incredible wine list and the... More

The Grand Cafe is in a lovely setting on the first floor of the Emerson Inn. There is a fantastic view of the water and on the night we dined there was a piano player outside the dining room. However the ambiance and view are not enough to make up for poor service. My party lingered in the lobby at... More

We live in Rockport and chose to dine twice recently at the Emerson for special occasions. We have many excellent options here and we won, big, with this choice. The service was gracious and unhurried, beginning to end; the wild salmon was some of the best we've ever had on the East coast; and we watched the light change in... More

In general, Rockport is a great place for lunch or casual fare. The Grand Cafe offered a nice setting for couples looking for a quiet meal together. The food (we had striped bass and sea scallops) was terrific and the view was lovely.

I am embarrassed for the owner, the staff, and anyone affiliated with this enterprise. Let me begin by saying I have worked in the service industry as does my brothers and sisters, and some have even taught at the Culinary Institute of America so my review isn't just a tale of a sad family experience and a memory of a... I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The relaxed pace of our dining experience is usually appreciated more by our adult guests than by families with small children. More

Friend and I stayed at the Inn last year (2013) , as I was high bidder for 2 nights and a $200 gift card via an online auction. These days we find ourselves vacationing on Cape Ann every year, as we love almost everything about it. The Emerson Inn is a lovely building in a pretty setting, but it's a... More

Tried to eat here Sat. night with family. Seven of us (2 young children) were seated in the center of the dining room, so one would think we would have had good service. Drinks took forever, were mediocre - my prosecco split was warm, It took 45 minutes to get a menu - we had to ask for them (told... More

My wife and I were one of only 2 couples in the Grand Café on a recent, stormy evening in Rockport. But the evening was made most enjoyable thanks to our server / bartender / tour guide Liz. She is a bundle of positive energy and made the evening enjoyable. Of course, the excellent salmon, clam chowder and Caesar salad... More
