Go for the feeling of "back when" & enjoy good food

We had heard about this Tavern for some time and enjoyed taking the extended family to it over the Christmas Holidays. The atmosphere is set perfectly with the long dirt road through the forrest. We tried a number of dishes and they were all good. Live music (as they sometime have) would have... read more

Good for beer drinkers... ...because they have an extensive beer list. ...because after enough beer, you won't care or notice how salty and fatty your food is. ...because all of the noise and poor acoustics won't bother you. ...because you won't care that your water glass keeps getting filled with mostly ice. ...because you probably won't notice that your plate... This is a charming, cozy 18th century landmark inn with excellent food and service that is attentive but not unnecessarily hovering. The atmosphere is informal and dress is casual. The food is inventive, attractively presented and delicious. A lamb entree was prepared perfectly. In the summer, there are lovely patios for outdoor dining but in winter, indoor tables are close... Visited with family for a late Christmas brunch. The food was very good and the service was exceptional. I can hardly wait to go back during the summer and enjoy the outside.

Made a reservation for a Monday night at the Rye Tavern, expecting it to be quiet and uncrowded. Was surprised to find a full parking lot - guess the word is out about this great restaurant located remotely in the woods on a partially dirt road. It was our first visit to this restaurant, and we will be back! We... More

We wanted to try Rye Tavern for a long time, having heard many good things about it. So we tried it on my birthday this week. The building is quaint, which we loved. The service was really good too - relaxed but attentive and friendly. The problem was with the food. I ordered one of the specials - shepherds pie.... More

First you travel down a dirt road for a mile before getting to a clearing with a house. This was an old tavern. Martinis great lemoncello, food is eclectic i had bricked chicken with risotto and brussels sprouts, steak great burgers large and good, pork special large chop cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere

Beyond being a beautiful, historic building, the food and service for our group of 60 people was fantastic! The menu options were quite diverse and the food was served promptly and deliciously! Will definitely be back! P.S. They have a nice selection of old and new world wines as well!

Surprisingly we live in Plymouth but have never been to this Tavern. It was our anniversary so made a 5pm reservation on this Saturday night. I must say, it is quite the challenge to get to, especially in the dark and we live here. Once entering the parking lot it was a free for all in parking on the gravel... More

The Rye Tavern used to be my favorite restaurant. I loved everything about it. But a few years ago the menu changed and I've hated it ever since. I want to love it again but just can't. Disappointed with food choices every time we go. On a positive note, the staff is always wonderful (especially Tia) and the location is... More
