I love eating in historical locations. When we first walked in, it was a bit noisy, since they had a football game on, but as soon as this crowd left, it was at a nice noise level. The food and service were excellent. It was funny, they actually had some ghost stories associated with the place. It's been a working... More

This is our third time visiting the Tavern. The first time was very off season, the second time in the summer with outside seating and this last weekend we sat inside which was full. The food had always been super with a very inventive menu. We go for the brussel sprout appetizer each time. Since was had 2 great experiences... More

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant several times when it opened. But things have changed under the new owner and chef. We met friends there for a dinner to celebrate a birthday. As before, the noise level was very high due to the close quarters, hard walls, and low ceilings. Unlike before, the service was poor and sporadic and the food... More

This place is one of a kind! Our dinner was one of the best I've ever had. Our whole family was blown away by every entree. My husband and I live an hour and a half away, but we will make the trip to go back!

Thanks, Tripadvisor. We would have never found this place without you because it is certainly off the beaten path. We went in today for a late lunch so there wasn't any trouble getting seated. We lucked out on the first sunny day in a while so we were able to enjoy the outside eating area. We found everyone friendly and... More

We started off the evening with music and drinks al fresco. The bar area was great and they had a couple of local artists performing. It was such a nice fall evening that we were able to have our dinner outside too. The food was great! From the brussel sprouts to the chocolate chip cookie and ice cream dessert, and... More

i almost did not write this. I'm afraid too many people will find it and ruin it! If you're looking for a New England classic with an updated menu, this is the place. Be sure to make reservations and go on a brisk Autumn evening. They'll have the fireplace lit!

My niece read about this place during our family trip in the area. We almost made the mistake of going to a place more convenient to where we were staying but she kept telling me how good the reviews of the Rye Tavern were. Fortunately we made the trip. The menu is inventive and extremely well executed. Unique recipes and... More

We wanted to take out a new friend to a good place, she recommended Rye Tavern. We had heard of it but had not been there. What a great place, I now know that when people say make that resveration, you need to do it. Small resturant, but everyone wants to be there. We had the most amazing meal. They... More

Recently visited the lovely Rye Tavern. Farm to table style restaurant with 2 bars; one smallish inside and a very nice outside terrace with heaters and a fire pit. Great wine and drink menu, appetizer selection outside. There was a live radio feed and a nice energy with the small outside crowd. For a Tuesday I was surprised by the... More
