Especially at this time of year, early autumn, a drive to the Brimfield/Palmer area is great. Around the Wachusett Reserviour, is justa wonderful.ride. The SteamingTender is a great attraction at the end. We drive out on a Sunday morning for the buffet breakfast and are neverdissappointed. The coffee is fresh and hot, and the schaffer dishes always full. My especial... More

I first visited this establishment in 2008 when I got married. The service was great, food was great, everything! Even though it landed on a busy Father's Day, the staff was wonderful to us as we had our reception. That being said, fast forward to Sept. 2014. My mother in law took me there for my birthday. Well, I was... More

When at Brimfield - stop at the Palmer Steamer in Palmer, the next town over to the west. Historic restaurant and bar in the old train depot. Had the buffet, and it was excellent. Seafood Newburg was outstanding with excellent scallops. Top off with dessert of the real bread pudding. Nice historical venue and people, and menu. A must stop... More

This restaurant was amazing - the food is unbelievable and the ambience and surroundings couldn't be more charming. The waitresses were so friendly and accommodating too. We were here for a model railroader convention where the Steaming Tender was "home base" - it was especially interesting for train buffs to eat in a historic building where trains went by on... More

Stopped with friends for dinner. Wednesday night is buffet night. I might add, NOT to be missed. Food was just great, and eating in an historic 19th century Romanesque-style train station. A 1915 Porter Steam locomotive and its Tender are displayed on the restaurant's grounds, along with a 1909 Parlor Car. WOW. Trains run locally eastbound and westbound throughout the... More

We went to Sturbridge and noticed the advertisement for Steaming Tender. Yes, I'm a rail fan so we went for dinner. Really enjoyed walking around the station property looking at the engines and cars. The restaurant is a rail station and was nicely furnished inside and out. Active rail tracks on both sides of the restaurant, what more can I... More

We were driving from Brimfield, MA to Hyde Park, NY yesterday as part of our two-week trek from Boston to Dallas, TX. Eight of us! We were chatting about how Martha Stewart says that tag sales are the best places to shop sometimes (we don't have TAG sales in Texas!), and we saw a sign for a church tag sale,... More

This place is really off the beaten track, but worth a visit - especially for train enthusiasts. The owners have lovingly restored a huge train station and maintained the original character while also turning it into a restaurant. There is a vast selection of food to choose from and it is of good quality. The restaurant appeals to people of... More

The atmosphere is wonderful. The building and the nostalgia really create the back in time feel. However, the food is average at best. Sandwiches and burgers don't stand out from other places, the app platter was good but nothing to be astonished with. We were there on a Sunday right after their brunch ended and even though the waitress was... More
