Two rail lines cross beside this restored junction depot. Switching of interchange freight cars goes on all through the day. Main line intermodals thunder past. We recently visited as two couples celebrating our anniversaries. We had a reservation and were greeted after a few minute wait by a less than friendly hostess and were already doubting our choice for dinner. Thankfully that was the only down point to out evening. We started with crab cakes and fried pickles as our appetizers and were happy with... More

I've been to the Steaming Tender multiple times and always had a great experience! Every meal is delicious, the service is great, and the decor of the old station cannot be beat! The breakfast is always the best, very fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. I always return whenever I'm in the area.

I frequent Steaming Tender about twice a month, so I am happy to say that they keep getting better. The atmosphere can be a little harried at time, and it's noisy as all get-out, but it's in an old rail station, so you take what you're given, take in the sight, and shut the heck up about the noise!!! Atmosphere:... More

If you're a railroad buff, like me, then this place is an automatic winner. The building is a beautiful old train station, right on an active rail line. Our waitress was pleasant and generally attentive. I saw multiple waitresses who were more or less standing around. I wondered if they were overstafffed this particular day? There are lots of choices... More

I've visited a couple times so far and tried different items each time. The fish and chips were done well, they seem to be typical pub food with a few higher end selections. Never got to try the prime rib they ran out on both visits one at 6:30pm and the other at 7:00pm.

My wife an I took our granddaughter to the Steaming Tender for an afternoon of train spotting and good food. Our granddaughter was able to see two different trains and a service vehicle riding on the rails while savoring a delicious hamburger with steak fries from the Kid's Menu. My wife and I went for the sampler appetizer and also... More

Conveniently located, 5 minutes from route 90. Historical railway station repurposed complete with ticket window, shoe shine stand, etc. Functioning RR tracks on either side. Restaurant area is former waiting area. Staff excellant, food excellant, pricing very fair. Would gladly go back. Property in front is being restored to the park/garden it once was, designed by Olmsted (Central Park NY,... More

While only 45 minutes from home, and a mere 10 minutes from Brimfield MA and the world-famous Brimfield Flea Market (3 times a year), this was our first visit to this GREAT restaurant. It DEFINITELY will not be our last. In fact, we've put together a list of the friends and relatives that we want to take to this gem.... More

What a great find! Great food and atmosphere. Great for large groups and individuals alike. Not just for locomotive enthusiast! Antique decor is charming. Fresh seafood too! Who knew?
