The Yardarm Restaurant is a small place with a big imprint. In the last decades we've prided ourselves on being the go-to meeting spot for locals in Orleans. On any given day, you'll find townsfolk like fisherman, physicians and plumbers all sharing stories over drinks or watching the Patriots. The Yardarm is a place where friends meet and where new friends are made. A big reason for our popularity is our food. We have a variety of dishes in different styles, from steaks to Gumbos but there's no one else quite does fish like we do. In fact, the Yardarm is where the local fisherman go to eat. We even serve forgotten traditional favorites like Cod Cheeks. Then more come in for the friendly service. Everyone from the owners down to the wait staff has made it their utmost priority to serve you well, and you'll definitely notice the smiles on our faces and attention to detail as you slowly realize like you're dining at a friend's place. There's no where else quite like the Yardarm!

Saturday night supper for two

We have visited Orleans for years and have enjoyed both the "local" atmosphere and the great seafood. Yes this place is a local gem, overlooked by so many tourists because it looks like a bar from its humble facade on Route 28. Both the customers and the decor are authentic. The waitress seemed... read more

This is definitely a local watering hole. Food is average. Service is ok. Bartenders may ignore you.

I am simple and in the golden years. I have eaten fish and chip meals in the past. Many. I have not tasted better than at the yardarm last evening. Fresh locally supplied cod. Light batter, well cooked chips. Simple and brilliant. They also had some Greek yogurt cheese cake. Food of the gods.

I rate this place three stars only because of the good bar service from overwhelmed barkeeps. The food was not anywhere as good from a salty old gal waitress. Slow to respond and got the order wrong which took a long time to realize as it took forever to receive the food. Prime rib special ordered medium rare arrived as... More

Excellent seafood, service, location, and cleanliness. Friendly servers made our experience positive. We were delighted that innkeepers Pete and Denise Butcher had recommended it to us when we stayed at the Ship's Knees Inn for our second honeymoon.

Ordered "special tavern fare" fish cakes for dinner. Greasy, flat, pasty, over fried, could not see fish at all. Could not eat them. Waitress spoke to chef who replied " that's the way we do it here." Sorry, but we will not be back.

No matter where we stay on the Cape we have to eat at the Yardarm. The food is always great from the chowder and burgers to prime rib and baked scrod. It's been busy each time we've gone since it's so popular. So bring your appetite and your patience. It will be worth it. We sat at the bar while... More

I could give The Yardarm anywhere from 2 stars to 4 stars, but the problems were so egregious that 2 stars won. The place was almost full as soon as dinner was starting to be served, and clearly it was patronized by many locals. This boded well, or so we thought. A highlight from the specials menu was caesar sald... More

We have eaten at the Yardarm many times over the last few years. the problem is it is not consistent. Some times its great and other times not good at all. We were there recently and it was very good. my daughter and family went the next evening for dinner and said it was terrible. Service was awful and food... More

Before entering my final review of the Yardarm because after giving them many chances over the years this is our last visit, I read previous reviews and found the same opinion. We always went to the Yardarm as tradition when traveling to the Cape. This was always our first stop as it was a local place, atmosphere was friendly, food... More
