Authentic Tibetan fare without traveling abroad!

If you are travelling through or near Northampon, I would highly recommend giving this charming little restaurant a try. A storefront with a single long room with a dropped ceiling, you'd think this place would be dull. But it's an immaculate, calm, kind place to dine. The nepalese staff is very kind. There are lovely large photographic panoramas of Lhasa on the walls and pictures of the dalai lama in the kitchen, which is fully visible from the dining... More

We have been drawn to this place out of curiosity, but we enjoyed the visit very much. There is quite authentic atmosphere inside. The food is real home cooking Tibetan food. It's not Chinese, more like Mongolian or Kazakh type of food. We liked the dumplings, they are cooked to order very fast. If you are hungry and can't wait,... More

Entering the Lhasa Café is like a step into their world. The ambiance is calming, the hot teas are "out of this world" and the food is good. Definitely will return.

Our son and his family recently moved to the Amherst area. While visiting one day, we noticed that there was a Tibetan restaurant in nearby Northampton. Never having tried Tibetan food before, we were anxious to see what it was like. So on this visit, the six of us (my wife and I, our son and daugther-in-law and their two... More

The food here was good - flavorful, spicy, unique - and the space has a warm cozy feel to it. The prices seemed pretty on par with other places around, if not a bit on the cheaper side. The dumpling combo plate was a winner and definitely great to share with a few people.

I never had Tibetan food before but it was a wonderful merriment between Indian and Chinese cuisine. Hints of curry and I loved the Yak dumplings! Don't be shy, this place has delicious food and a soothing atmosphere reminiscent of a Buddhist monastery.

I heard this place got good reviews so I decided to give it a try after my recent trip to nearby Mount Holyoke. I stopped in on a quiet afternoon, I was quickly seated and given plenty of time to make up my mind (as I am rather unfamiliar with Tibetan cuisine) most dishes on the menu had ether chicken,... If all Tibetan food is really like this (which I doubt), you should avoid all Tibetan restaurants. Sympathy for Tibet is fine, but you'd do better to give your money to Tibetan organizations and not to restaurants like this. Dry, bad, food; hard to explain--just bad cooking.

We went based on other TA reviews and were delighted to try something new. They accommodated my gluten sensitivity happily. We loved the veggie curry and would have loved more veggie in the ample sauce. We went for the yak and were pleasantly surprised. A good experience all around.
