I much prefer to write positive reviews, but sometimes criticism is well warranted. First the positive: this is a cute little place, The decor and menu suggest you are in for a pleasant experience. Now some negatives: There is no greeting. I realize some of the food is take out and the prices are somewhat modest, but that doesn't mean... More

The morning buns and croissants are great. Coffee is good. However they are not always open and have a propensity for closing in bad weather which isn't great when your planning on getting coffee on a snowy morning.

The sandwiches are great here. I am NEVER disappointed. The morning buns are truly unforgettable. They are so good that you have to rush out early if you want to get one- otherwise they might all be gone by 830. This is a nice casual place with GREAT FOOD. Great location, small and intimate, very friendly, great coffee too.

After reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor I decided to try 40 Green Street Lunch. The outdoor dining was the attraction and, although it was adequate, it was just outdoor tables and chairs along Green Street - a not very picturesque location. They were out of brie, so I couldn't get my first choice of sandwich. My second choice -... More

I didn't think i would enjoy this place as much as i did. It was sooo delicious i can't wait to go again. The sandwiches are amazing and different which i really like. The best though are the fresh and delicious deserts they had available.

Jim has created a true gem...a Parisian cafe right here in Northampton. Absolutely the best croissants on the East Coast and a great lunch menu. We love the rows od outdoor tables that remind us of A european cafe.

"40 Lunch", as it's known, is tucked in on Green street adjoining the Smith College campus. Its offerings are fresh and tasty whether it be a sandwich with ethnic flair or delightful salad, a true french croissant or tarte de fruit. Wines are available by the glass as well as beers and tea and coffee. Delicious imported chocolates as well... More

Open for breakfast and lunch, and takeout into the early evening. Excellent croissants and sandwiches on baguettes. Tasty salads as well. Outdoor tables in warm weather. Indoor seating is limited, but comfortable. Workers are friendly and talented. Great place to have lunch near Forbes Library and Smith College.
