While seal watching on the beaches of Truro - a nice lady recommended this restaurant to us because we were commenting on how commercial and over rated the restaurants where in Providencetown. Well we found a gem - good food, great choices, great atmosphere. Next time we are staying ONLY in Truro - and naturally eating at the Whitman House.

We eat at the Whitman at least a few times a month. The food and the value are outstanding. The service is friendly and family like. We just moved to town and this was the first place we went and we appreciate their blackened fish choices and their ample portions.

My first trip to the Whitman house will likely be my last. The building is lovely and offers both a dining room and tavern. We decided on the tavern which consists of a small bar area and a nice porch. We soon learned that the complementary popcorn in the bar area was not for folks on the porch, even though... More

When we pulled up we were concerned about the 2 tour buses in the parking lot but upon entry there was room in a very nice setting and we were treated very well, servers were pleasant, efficient and helpful. A whipped cheese with bread sticks started it off - we had the appetizer sampler which contained a selection of baked... More

I always bring my guests to the Whitman House. It is a family business and treats you as family when there. They have a great early bird special with five choices, from cheese and crackers to coffee and dessert. Their regular menu gives many great choices also. The staff is usually very professional, although the last visit, I must say... More

We first visited the Whitman House over fifteen years ago, but it had been four years since our last visit to the Cape. After reading other reviews we were somewhat cautious about a visit this year but we decided to give it a try. A meal at the Whitman House is our one special dinner on vacation and we were... More

I have been going to the Whitman House every year since I was literally a baby. I have many fond memories of ending family vacations there with a great, high quality dinner. At the beginning of the summer my parents had eaten there and told us they had a bad experience there and would never go back. I was hoping... More

We eat here a couple of times a year, since it's only a few miles from our summer address. When we do, we always eat on the Tavern, and not the main dining room. We do this because the prices are lower (which is obvious, since almost everyone who eats in the tavern is a local). The upside is decent... More

We usually get to this Restaurant once a year on vacation. Very rustic and dark interior, dimly lit. Service was adequate , server very sullen and serious. Menu choices were good although we felt it was a bit pricey. Maybe next year we'll pass on this, used to be better.

We have been to many restaurants in Eastham, Wellfleet, and Truro over the years. We had a lovely meal with 8 people here last Thursday. The atmosphere was wonderful - in fact, I mentioned numerous times that I much prefer the Whitman House atmosphere to that of a nice restaurant that we have eaten at many times, across from the...
