New Years Eve. Run for your life. This typically good restaurant needs some management skills for busy periods. Won’t do this again.

You have to take advantage of the sushi lunch special. I ordered three rolls for $12 all spicy ones- omg was it hot! But was delicious. Their general gaos chicken is fresh and amazing.
Best around. We pick it up at least one a month. Everything is prepared to order. Mostly ordering off of the appetizer section. There bar makes excellent drinks. Staff had always been friendly and efficient.
We were a group of 15 that chose to eat here since it was close to work. We planned for 5 pm and it was very quiet. The waiter was very pleasant and since we wandered a few at a time, did not become impatient...with us. He let us split the bills among us without an issue. The food was good and the prices were fair. The Mai Tai is only $5 which was of course what most of us ordered. We finished off our night with the karaoke in the bar area.More
It's very difficult to screw up Chinese food,so my rating isn't based on the quality and variety they serve. What's amazing about this restaurant is that they also serve very good Japanese and Thai food as well. The restaurant menu goes on for 10 pages,...in small print. Their sushi and sashimi selections are extensive and very fresh. No other Japanese restaurant in this area serves shabu-shabu, a cook-at-the-table meal which I discovered in Japan many years ago. Thai food in this area of Massachusetts is rare, and Hokkaido does some fine dishes. Yes, they have a sports bar and karaoke nights, but the restaurant is well separated from the very well attended bar and relatively quiet. And yes, you can do take-out. But I recommend that you eat in the restaurant to allow for many dishes you can't take out.More
Our take out was good, would have preferred more seasoning. The general gau chicken was tasty as well as the lomein. I would order a few more menu items next time. .
Worst Asian food I've ever had. But, WAS a regular at the bar. Until..... They had me arrested for dropping my card at an establishment next door. Would not let me easily walk to get it paid for.
The food is good I have been there many times have yet to get a bad meal the service is good the staff is friendly and pleasant good atmosphere I recommended it
I've been to Hokkaido around 15 times in the past 2 years. The renovations (post Beijing) are nice; classy but comfortable. I keep introducing this place to all my friends because I love it so much! I have eaten mostly the Shabu Shabu (hot pot)...and the sushi. Both are truly excellent. Sushi is very fresh, high quality, and beautifully presented. Shabu Shabu is so reasonably priced, at first I was doubtful about the quality. I was very pleasantly surprised. Huge portions of meat, seafood and veggies, all super fresh and yummy. The assorted mushroom tray has around 8 different varieties! It is so much fun to "cook your own" over bubbling pots of broth. Great selection of broths, vegetarian and meat-based, spicy and mild. I have enjoyed all six broths I have tried. We recently hosted a high-school exchange student from China. He and all of the other Chinese students were thrilled when we took them to Hokkaido, saying the food was wonderful and "just like home"! They wanted to keep returning! This is a great place for a relaxed-pace unique meal with friends, a date, or even kids. Service has been spot-on 80% of the time. Everything else has been so enjoyable I can totally forgive the occasional forgetful waiter. I will be back again and again!More
We've been looking for a place to have shabu shabu outside of Boston and found it so close to our home!! Beautifully presented and delicious :) Our only suggestion is that the either the wait staff "skim" the broth or provide a utensil and bowl...so we could do it ourselves. Very attentive and pleasant wait staff! Thanks so much!!More
We dine at Hokkaido often (it is close to our home) and it it one of our favorite places to eat. My wife loves the sushi ($1 or $1.50 per piece ... VERY fresh). I like the Thai dishes and even though I have a...big appetite I often bring home enough for a lunch the next day. The regular dining room is nice but we enjoy eating at a booth in the bar where drinks are very reasonable (and generous in size). My 5 stars does not mean it is gourmet, just very good food at very reasonable prices. I think you will like it. Very highly recommended.More
The Hokkaido has an extensive menu, that is broken into 4 separate sections: Shabu shabu(which you cook at your table in a hot pot), Japanese sushi/sashime selections, Thailand entrees, and Chinese entries. I have tried a number of the Thai dishes, and have always found...them to be very freshly made, very tasty, and generous in size. My wife gravitates to the Chinese entrees, and she has always commented on how well made and tasty everything is. I also enjoy the $5 Mai-Tai's everyday all-day! Would recommend.More
I've been here twice for lunch for Thai food and both times I've been pleasantly surprised! The portions are HUGE! The chicken satay is wonderful and the yellow curry is very, very yummy. The prices are very reasonable, the restaurant is clean, and the service...friendly. Go there - you won't be disappointed!More
Just around the corner type of restaurant Great food and drinks Good night out for funny Karaoke and drinks The food is excellent and good prices and large portions and the staff are friendly and very help in choosing your meal Japanese or Chinese or...even Thai food great choice.More
Picked up take out on a Friday night, from pulling into the parking lot it looked packed. And when I walked in the door, the bar was pumping out karaoke song after song. I asked for my food and wasn't there, granted there were 5...ready bags on the counter. Finally the hostess was smart enough to check order tags, apparently an order for Paul sounded like "Carol" over the phone. Ordered General Gao's which had plenty of heat, some pieces of chicken were too fried. Also enjoyed pan fried Peking Raviolis and some chicken wings, my wife ordered duck. Suggestion would be to change one of the handicapped parking spots to a Take Out only Lane. Take a page from Chilis book, during a rain storm I had to walk all the way around the building from the only available parking spot, which isn't well lit.More
