Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. One of our first restaurants and still a popular lure, we are located on Route 9 in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. We are still keeping things fresh at our bar, our open dining room and in our take-out counter and Fish Market. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

We treated family from out of town to a wonderful lunch here recently. They raved about the quality and freshness of their meals. The waitress was attentive and flexible in adapting some the dishes to meet our preferences and dietary restrictions e g my husband ordered a fish casserole but did not want any shrimp and more scallops. As the... More

I have nothing but good things to say about Legal seafood. I've been going there every time I'm in Boston and the food quality has been consistent. The first time I went there was summer of '83 when I started college. If you love seafood then this is the place to try.

This is our local place for seafood. It's pricey, so we don't go often. But we're never disappointed by what we're served, expecially the delicious clam chowder. Legal definitely deserves its reputation as a major, much-loved seafood chain.

As usual Legal never fails on food quality, service and variety. Enzo one of the managers is very professional and treats us like family .He comes over to check if everything is good even when the restaurant is busy.

Legal Sea Foods prides itself on freshness (and on the fact that its chowder gets served at the presidential inaugurations). What they do well, they really excel at: incredible shrimp cocktail, awesome spicy fried calamari, phenomenal scallops & crab cakes, and great grilled fish. It is not cheap. Or even in the neighborhood of 'great value.' We've been going to... More

The lobster rolls were fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was great for a quiet, enjoyable dinner, with a view of the outdoors through the spacious windows. The appetizer bread rolls are one of a kind.

Legal's for years has been the place to go for seafood. However it has falling off the curve for a few years now. Their food is lacking its previous pizazz and all their fried food tastes like it is fried in a common fryolator oil. The fries take like fish and vice versa. The only restaurant that does not do... Legal is not just a great place to have about 30 different kinds of fish, there is meat and poultry done right as well. I think the Gumbo is almost as good as the Gumbo Palace in New Orleans. The rolls are hot, their chowders are so tasty, and their main courses are often larger than one would expect. Sometimes... More

It is really an insult to its customers to have a barely passable sea food restaurant when you know how to have an excellent gourmet one in town on the second floor of the wharf. Over the years the quality of the local Legals has gone done as the publicity and proliferation has gone up. I had the bake stuffed... More
