Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. One of our first restaurants and still a popular lure, we are located on Route 9 in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. We are still keeping things fresh at our bar, our open dining room and in our take-out counter and Fish Market. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

We’ve eaten at Legal Sea Foods in Chestnut Hill a number of times over the years (I have fond memories of Legals first coming to Chestnut Hill; it was a very casual place, closer to the atmosphere of the original Inman Square restaurant than any other Legals). Our most recent time, a dinner with friends, was not the best, due... More

As usual an excellent meal Treated like family by mgrs Mike & Enzo . The quality was worth the Price. We decided to split Appetizers and salads and Entrees and it was plenty enough To take home.

We traveled to Boston to look at homes and figured we would try this tourist place. We sat down at 5:36 and didn't receive our food until 7:27. Although they "comped" our appetizers, with little kids this was just a harrowing experience. The food was average. Definitely not among the best places I have had new england seafood. Also, a... The fish is always fresh and tasty....the sides are better than anticipated.....and the rolls are to die for!!! The chowder is wonderful.....and you can follow by getting a smaller portion....just ask for the lunch menu.....they are very accommodating...and will even split entrees for you providing and extra baked potato.....this place never disappoints.

We treated family from out of town to a wonderful lunch here recently. They raved about the quality and freshness of their meals. The waitress was attentive and flexible in adapting some the dishes to meet our preferences and dietary restrictions e g my husband ordered a fish casserole but did not want any shrimp and more scallops. As the... More

I have nothing but good things to say about Legal seafood. I've been going there every time I'm in Boston and the food quality has been consistent. The first time I went there was summer of '83 when I started college. If you love seafood then this is the place to try.

This is our local place for seafood. It's pricey, so we don't go often. But we're never disappointed by what we're served, expecially the delicious clam chowder. Legal definitely deserves its reputation as a major, much-loved seafood chain.

As usual Legal never fails on food quality, service and variety. Enzo one of the managers is very professional and treats us like family .He comes over to check if everything is good even when the restaurant is busy.

Legal Sea Foods prides itself on freshness (and on the fact that its chowder gets served at the presidential inaugurations). What they do well, they really excel at: incredible shrimp cocktail, awesome spicy fried calamari, phenomenal scallops & crab cakes, and great grilled fish. It is not cheap. Or even in the neighborhood of 'great value.' We've been going to... More

The lobster rolls were fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was great for a quiet, enjoyable dinner, with a view of the outdoors through the spacious windows. The appetizer bread rolls are one of a kind.
