Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. One of our first restaurants and still a popular lure, we are located on Route 9 in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. We are still keeping things fresh at our bar, our open dining room and in our take-out counter and Fish Market. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Ya know the service really leaves a lot to be desired this time the waitress got pissed at my mom for changing her side 2 times. We waited a long time for the waitress to show up with the check we asked 3 times lobstah was good but service was horrible as usual sorry I wish my mom didn't want... More

Legal's for years has been the place to go for seafood. However it has falling off the curve for a few years now. Their food is lacking its previous pizazz and all their fried food tastes like it is fried in a common fryolator oil. The fries take like fish and vice versa. The only restaurant that does not do... Legal is not just a great place to have about 30 different kinds of fish, there is meat and poultry done right as well. I think the Gumbo is almost as good as the Gumbo Palace in New Orleans. The rolls are hot, their chowders are so tasty, and their main courses are often larger than one would expect. Sometimes... More

It is really an insult to its customers to have a barely passable sea food restaurant when you know how to have an excellent gourmet one in town on the second floor of the wharf. Over the years the quality of the local Legals has gone done as the publicity and proliferation has gone up. I had the bake stuffed... More

Took my daughter to Legals for a birthday dinner and had a dinner that should have been Illegal. Our waiter Jackson was excellent and that made up for the meal. The appetizer, calamari arrived and was very greasy and the calamari itself tasted chalky. Then a second plate of calamari arrived and when we looked up at the waiter with... More

We always have good meals at Legals--it is that dependable. Not all Legal's have exactly the same menu--I prefer this menu, plus this location (free parking, too). My dad always enjoys the fried fish. Any fried fish, but especially the Fish and Chips. Mom orders the Jasmine Special: steamed shrimp and broccoli over jasmine rice with melted Monterrey jack cheese... More

We dine at Legal Seafoods every time we visit our Son, Daughter-in-law, and Grandchildren. Legal is very kid-friendly, and the staff is always attentive. Oh, and the great food never disappoints us.

As usual Legal is always a good dinner. However service was a little slow when we were there last. Wrong drink order and appetizers came at the same time dinner was served. Will go back to the Seaport Legal before returning here, more of a selection.

I have eaten at numerous legal restaurants around the Boston area. The food here was standard and represented the menu well. However we received three wine glasses that were dirty. One with lipstick on it. We mentioned it to our server after the first and continued to get dirty glasses. We brought it to the servers attention each time and... More
