The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. One of our first restaurants and still a popular lure, we are located on Route 9 in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. We are still keeping things fresh at our bar, our open dining room and in our take-out counter and Fish Market. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Legally Good ! Limited Menu choices .... but good

I had a Clam Chowder to start -- it was delicious. Followed by "Salmon Blackened" with a green veg and coleslaw. The fish was really fresh and really good. Attentive service. Ample parking outside (located in a strip mall). Wifi is "hop-a-long to store next door ! (but works). As a first time... read more

Simply outstanding. With so few reviews and such a new business I was concerned... trust me, DON'T be. This is an amazing, quaint restaurant with outstanding service (thank you Enzo & Hannah!!) and food that is just delicious! Our group had several of the appetizers - the favorites were the variety of oysters. Yummy. Most of us had the special... More

I've been eating at Legal's for 45 years, since I first came to Boston for college. They are known for the freshest seafood -- I've never had fish on my plate that was anything less than top quality. However, over the years, entrees have gotten a bit pricey, and the portion size on some of the standards has gittem smaller... More

I enjoy going to Legals often, but would also enjoy trying some new dishes. Maybe something spicy? The seafood sampler is a large portion, if you are hungry. Can't go wrong with the clam chowder. I've also been here with a large party (20+ people), and they have a nice area in the back that they can partition off to... More

Anyone who grew up in the Boston area in the 1970's would not realize today's Legal Sea Foods. But that is really nostalgia. It's a mall restaurant, noisy, hectic, and lots of families with kids I'd like to say save your $$$, but their only competitor closed a few years ago. Still draws a crowd.

I used to work at Legal in its early days, and the Legal of now is a far cry from the Legal of then. Yes, good fish and shellfish. Just not so much amazing, and pretty pricey too. Seems more like a regular spot for wealthy seniors and tourists. Too bad, but still it could be worse.

I chose this Legal Sea Foods location because it is the first one at which my wife dined, it ended up being the closest to us once we moved to Boston, and as a tribute to the original full-service Legal which was in Chestnut Hill (though it was destroyed by fire). I truly believe that going to a Legal Sea... More

Generously overfilled, the roll was excellent. It is underdressed, so you may want more mayo. I can't wait for my next one.
