The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. One of our first restaurants and still a popular lure, we are located on Route 9 in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. We are still keeping things fresh at our bar, our open dining room and in our take-out counter and Fish Market. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Go hungry and wanting a wonderful Ciopinno

The Legal C Bar in Dedham, MA is my usual choice, but to satisfy my craving for Ciopinno, Chestnut Hill Legal was the place to dine Monday night. This Legal has a more extensive menu than the C Bars, a very extensive wine list, and a great Ciopinno. Our waitress, Stephanie, was no nonsense... read more

We try to go to Legal Seafood at least once a month. You can't beat their seafood dishes or the bread and butter. Staff is very attentive.

Where do you go for great seafood ? The Boston area, freshest of fresh fish possible, well so I thought. Very disappointed in the quality served. Started out with clam chowder great texture but missing the clams had tuna steak with a couple of side dishes. The tuna was sub par grade (chewy) and lacking flavor. Service overall okay, average... A shout out for Legal Sea Foods in Chestnut Hill. We arrived minutes before closing time. Instead of "well we are really closed," we were given a table for four, our great waitress made sure that we got our wine before the bar closed and then got out food order in just as the kitchen was closing. Everyone extended themselves... More

Reliably good seafood/raw bar though prices are high. Often a wait for tables, we like sitting at the bar - service is great, seats are comfortable, lively chatter all around and bartenders are very attentive.

Though we are regulars at man Legal locations we had never been to this one. Standard solid and attentive waitstaff, great menu with some differences. This was a special shrimp month and the appetizer of Coconut shrimp with ginger organ marmalade was outstanding. My wife chose her favorite Mediterranean salmon, excellent as always. I had the shrimp pad thai also... More

The food at this Legal is very good, and I trust their quality. My favorite item is the kale, a premium side. I think Legal is perfect when I'm traveling, and the client is paying the bill. But it's too pricey for a casual weeknight family dinner. For $78 we got: 2 salmon dinner plates; kid's ravioli; kid's mac and... More

While the food was good, I was disappointed in the overall experience. The service was not very friendly and the timing of the courses was off. Portions are generous and well prepared. The New England Lobster Bake was fabulous.

I've been going to numerous Legal Seafoods over the years. The food quality just isn't as good as it used to be. Would much rather go to The Cottage next door now.

Good service, excellent meal--Halibut Provencale excellent also The Jasmin exceptional. Try the Jasmin special with scrod instead of shrimp.
