Disappointed they use MSG

I loved their soups! So hearty and liked the unique recipes. I thought it was all natural but then found out the "natural flavors" was actually MSG. Why can't they just put that on their ingredient list?!

Excellent soup and sandwiches at this long-time Newton standby. Great variety, including cold fruit soups in summer. Not cheap, but priced fairly.

I had driven by this place a number of times, but never stopped in. Needham street is a busy street, of course, but very near me. I got a couple of pints of soup for me and my wife. I had clam and corn chowder, which was delicious. I can't remember what she got, but she also like it very... More

Such amazing soup. Fresh ingredients. And the rolls are yum as well. The matzo ball is gigantic however.

Talk about comfort food! This beef stew was rich and flavorful without a strong salty taste. With a wheat or white roll it is a filling delightful lunch for a cold winter day! Bread lovers will not be disappionted with the rolls.

Quality food. Portions are often comically large, and a bit pricer than I'd like. But good home-style cooking that is recommended.

We heard so much about this place that we decided we had to try it. We drove from Cambridge for the rotisserie chicken. They use a secret brining recipe, but the result is a tender, moist chicken with a very delicious skin. The day we were there, they offered apricot smothered rotisserie chicken. It looked great, and of course it... More

I keep returning to the New England Soup Factory for the soup -- there's a good variety, including vegetarian and began choices, and I appreciate how well ingredients (dairy, meat broth, etc) are posted, even if some are a little heavy-handed on the salt (which I usually notice an hour or two after eating, when I discover I am insatiably... My family and I ordered soups for each member, and we paid with a credit card because we had no cash. My son spilled his, and so we ordered another. When we picked it up, we handed over our credit card, but the server said that there was a $10 minimum on credit card use. I explained that my son... More

What a find. Business associate took me there and although there was a bit of a wait, it was well worth it. The soup and combo deal is a great value. The clam and corn chowder was excellent and the hamfest sandwich was hammy....loved it. Great choices, great prices, great food.
