Dependable breakfast & brunch spot

Johnny's reliably serves large portions of good breakfast & brunch food. Eggs, omelets, crunchy French toast and homefries are all good. Even though there are many people waiting on weekend mornings, they turn tables pretty quickly, so the wait usually isn't too long.

The menu is extensive , the portions are generous and the food is good. The only drawback was the service. It was midweek and the place was quiet, but I think they were understaffed, as we had to wait a long time, the soup arrived with the main course, there was no teaspoon for the tea etc.

Don't bother with this place as there are far better delis in the area. Still at the table, but so bad I had to post. Coffee had spinach in the cup, orders came out wrong and the food was just skimpy, bad and expensive. Even Panera is far better! Avoid this place if you can.

Johnny's has a definite Jewish twist on food, but it's not a kosher restaurant. It's clearly a popular venue, quite busy. The food was tasty and hearty, the service good and the atmosphere bustling, but not chaotic. An omelette with Italian sausage and sun-dried tomatoes was one of the best omelettes I've had. It came with excellent hash brown potatoes... More

Visited this restaurant with family who live in the area. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. Our breakfast items were tasty and served in a reasonable time. Relaxed atmosphere and a variety of seating options.

We found this place in Newton and really enjoyed our stay. They made us feel welcome from the very beginning and the service was excellent throughout our meal. We ordered everything from sliders to meatloaf and salads. They also worked hard to provide for our gluten free friend, asking the cooks to see what was in dishes that they weren't... More

Tons of vegetarian options. The vibe is warm and homey. You will have order envy if you go with others. Totally fun to sit at the counter and watch the action. If going during prime time allow for a wait. That said totally worth the wait.

This popular Newton diner is always bustling; a good, centrally-located place for breakfast or lunch or an informal meeting. The food is good, not any special.

We were a group of three couples in town for a wedding. Johnnys was recommended, so we left our hotel and went there for breakfast. All of us were extremely satisfied with our choice. The food was well prepared and was a good value. The service was excellent. Our waiter even brought over an extra free dish of home fries... More
