This restaurant never disappoints - the food is absolutely some of the best I've ever eaten (and I am a frequent fine diner) and the service is always terrific. Friendly, knowledgeable and unflappable wait staff is not reluctant to make recommendations - including an excellent wine choice. The only drawback to this restaurant is its size forces tables for 2... More

Chef's tasting menu was pretty good, soups were excellent, steaks were OK but then its not a steakhouse, wine pairings were also OK but it would be unfair to expect something very fancy for only $30. Service was excellent - we were seated immediately after we showed up, waiters were very helpful - gave us good advice on the menus,... More

Lumiere serves you very small portions for top money. I took a date there and spent over $200 for two persons and walked away hungry. There are better restaurants in Newton for less money. Tartufo in Newton Center for one.

One hardly need say more. Lumiere is a favorite for special occasions. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for.

This is my favorite Boston area restaurant, whether for a special occasion or just because it's a perfect place to have a divine meal. Everything about it is deliciously wonderful, from the moment you enter the restaurant and feel the calm and cool of the white linen drapings to when the wait staff approaches your table, skillfully speaks to you... This is, for me, the best restaurant in the Boston area. The food is always superb--the fried chicken is as good as the soon to close Hamersley's Bistro--and our table has always been ready. But the best aspect of Lumiere is that we are made to feel so comfortable. It is as quiet as a restaurant can be. The service... More

This is a very elegant and pricey suburban restaurant. The food is wonderful and the service is lovely. A special place for special occasions.

We have gone to Lumiere for the five years we have lived nearby. The service has always been first rate. The soups are particularly good. Very friendly atmosphere. Quiet. Elegant. But the prices have gotten out of hand. Gone are the inexpensive prix fixe menus, although high end tasting ones remain. Soup, very good but basically corn and cream with... More

loved the atmosphere, service, and quality of the food....a step above most places nearby.....portions are generous, so some sharing will save $. Wine by the glass is also generous.

We had a very nice dinner at Lumiere. The menu was interesting, especially the balancing of different flavors and textures in the same dish. The servers were knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. The food was good. Given all that we had heard about this restaurant, we had expected an extraordinary experience. It wasn't outstanding .. but it was still quite good.
