My husband had the tasting menu and I had a couple of appetizers for our anniversary dinner; everything was very well prepared. Their cocktail list is inventive and fresh.

We went for dinner on Bew Years Eve. They were offering a fixed menu of three courses. There were ample choices for each course and both my husband and I enjoyed our meals. The service was friendly and attentive even on what was a busy night. Would go again.

Right on LinghtningDog; I couldn't agree more. I dropped $400 the other night, and I'm not sure what I got, except two bottles of overpriced red, three scallops (appetizer) and three small samples of lamb (entrée). My business partner had to have the chicken because the menu was so limited. The pretentiousness of the place is annoying, as they promote... More

Lumiere is transitioning to a less formal environment which is still a bit uneven, but the service and wine and food are simply the best in an increasingly competitive Newton, Needham, Chestnut Hill environment.

This is a very pricey French place, which would be fine, except that my many dining experiences there have been uneven. Sometimes the food is quite good, and sometimes quite bland, and on one occasion a dish was not edible. Service is quite pretentious. They survive by being the only not-super-casual place near the West Newton Theater. In a foodie... More

The whole family loves Lumiere. We go here for special occasions because although it is high end, the service is fairly casual. The food is excellent and I don't think we have had anything yet which was blah.

while the food is generally talked about as very good, we found the service to be very disappointing and annoying. we let the manager know; we got a gift card to lure us back; we gave it another try; we were disappointed. there are better places to eat in Newton if you like good food AND good service.

Lumiere is a lovely, low-key restaurant in an improbable location at the intersection of two busy streets. The interior is cool and calm, with no noise from outside--we can attest to that, having recently had dinner there on a night when crews were jack-hammering outside. We didn't hear a thing. But on to the food. The menu is simple, and... More

Lumiere provides fine dining experiences at special events! The food is excellent and the service is great but it comes with a high price tag. Good atmosphere and good location if you live in Newton. Very good wine selection and good quality ingredients! Overall great place for special events but the prices are very steep!
