Bested our expectations!

The food, service, and ambiance are all excellent! There are other places nearby that are more trendy or get more media attention, and I've eaten at... More

We had reservations at a different resturaunt for months, but when we called a couple days ago to give them the heads up that our party of 6 turned into a party of 4, they canceled our reservation and told us they could only reserve tables for parties of 6 or more. So, we ended up at Tartufo's. Boy, did... More

Went to Tartufo last night with some good friends and had a great meal. I had the Frutti di mare, which came wrapped in parchment paper. There were a ton of clams and mussels along with a few shrimp and some squid. Taste was excellent, portion was large and pasta was fresh. My wife had a pasta dish with sausage... More

I think this may be the noisiest restaurant I've been in in years. My wife and I could barely hear each other. It's a casual crowd, lots of families. The stuffed veal chop was good, not great. The filet mignon had to be sent back (undercooked). We waited about 5 minutes to be seated -- there was no hostess to... More

Tartufo Restaurant - Newton, MA - 4-6-2015 As I walk up to the door the first thing that over takes me is the rich aroma that hints of the gastronomical experience that awaits me on the other side of the door. That was my first sign... I was immediately seated and met the owners Anna & Dante. They've owned the... More

We felt fortunate to score a table on a Saturday night at the last minute. That should have given us pause. Arriving at Tartufo's we were struck by the haphazard atmosphere: about 5 or 6 parties of people were waiting with reservations and nary a table in sight. The manager (or perhaps the owner) ran about frantically looking for tables.... More

Tartuffo is attractive and warm. The service is outstanding. They truly try to honor any request you may have, and are not intrusive. You actually feel as though you are in a family restaurant in Italy. My husband loved his spaghetti carbonara; I loved my chicken with artichokes in a white wine sauce and we both loved our kind thoughtful waiter... More

The food, ambiance, hospitality, prompt service requires me to give this place 5 stars. Having traveled extensively through Italy, I know the food is authentic and it is delicious. This is not a trendy-poser place like some spots in Newton. When I sit at the bar & Freddy serves drinks, I see that I'm in the company of some of... More

This is the best Italian restaurant in Newton and I would say metro-west Boston. We take our weekly guests for our seminars there almost every week (I am a professor). The staff are super nice and I always feel I am at home. It is not a cheap place. Fiorella's is cheaper and also very good. But Tartufo, if price... More

I would have to respectfully disagree with some of the recent reviewers who said Tartufo is average or nothing special. We visited on a (very) snowy Valentine's Day and found the food superb and service more than friendly - I don't know what the restaurant's ownership status is, but it had a definitive family-owned feel to it. Delicious warm bread... More
