Warm Italian Hospitality and Excellent Food

Tartuffo is attractive and warm. The service is outstanding. They truly try to honor any request you may have, and are not intrusive. The food, ambiance, hospitality, prompt service requires me to give this place 5 stars. Having traveled extensively through Italy, I know the food is authentic and it is delicious. This is not a trendy-poser place like some spots in Newton. When I sit at the bar & Freddy serves drinks, I see that I'm in the company of some of... More

This is the best Italian restaurant in Newton and I would say metro-west Boston. We take our weekly guests for our seminars there almost every week (I am a professor). The staff are super nice and I always feel I am at home. It is not a cheap place. Fiorella's is cheaper and also very good. But Tartufo, if price... More

I would have to respectfully disagree with some of the recent reviewers who said Tartufo is average or nothing special. We visited on a (very) snowy Valentine's Day and found the food superb and service more than friendly - I don't know what the restaurant's ownership status is, but it had a definitive family-owned feel to it. Delicious warm bread... More

Sort of knew Tartufo would be nothing special. A few friends said it was decent, so a group of us gave it a try. Wine List - Nothing good to select. it was strange, because this is not a common problem because we drink anything! Salad - very good Apps - we had meatballs which tasted like they were from... The food was pretty good, probably not worth the price but still good. However, the service and sanitation of the place is bad. There was a hair clearly cooked into my dates food. The hair doesn't necessarily bother me but when I asked them about the hair they said they would make her another dish (which took 20 minutes) so... More

I will definitely come back here. The service and food is amazing! The environment is warm and inviting. The waiters sincerely want to please and I kept seeing them greet guests as though they were regulars or maybe even family. I came here with two other adults and we started off with the lamb sausage and Caesar salad. I never... More

My wife and I ate dinner here and found our dinners just average with the service matching the food. Our grilled calamari appetizer was uninteresting in taste and the two veal dishes we ordered were without much flavor even if tender. The service was slow and insufficiently attentive.

Went to Tartufo to celebrate our son's engagement. The food was fabulous and the service very nice. The only downside was the very high noise level.

Asked my Irish/Italian nephew for a gift certificate last Christmas to his favorite restaurant. Took a while for us to get there but have to say the kid knows outstanding Italian. Menu offerings, atmosphere and wine choices just superb. A bit close in the main dining room but we had a high top table just at the bar entryway which... More
