Great food and good service, but loud

The Italian restaurant on a side street in Newton Center is a gem. The menu choices cover a range of traditional and non-traditional Italian foods. The appetizers and meals are excellent as is the wine list. The one rub is a somewhat high noise level. I have eaten downstairs and upstairs, and... read more

Very good Italian food and a nice ambiance. My wife and I split a very good Caesar salad and she got the sable and I got the lemon sole - both very good. Excellent cucumber martini too! My only complaint was the slow and inattentive service. Literally took 15 mins for the server to bring our glasses of wine.

Walked in to very busy first floor for dinner without a reservation. We were politely asked if upstairs would be fine. It was very fine Brother had risotto wow! Plate cleaned quickly! I had chick and lemon. Tender and delicious! Young water served well, but didn't recognize the cork as being plastic. The only flaw of the night. Five stars!

Maybe it was just a bad night but the service was very bad. This restaurant, in newton Centre has and old time Italian restaurant feel. They seem to be trying for the high touch, upscale, family feel, but their waiters are not really well trained. I love Italian food and know it well. This was a very poor imitation of... More

Family of five - including three hungry college - had excellent meal. Great salads. Delicious risotto (especially lobster). Nice veal chop. Delicious desserts - be sure to save room! Only complaint is that it was a little loud for larger group conversation. Highly regarded.

I was here seven months ago and the owners welcomed me with hugs and hand shakes... They treat you like family! Anna & Dante run a fabulous restaurant... All the same servers from the last time and they go out of their way to make sure that everything is just so... Bread... Purposely cut in the most perfect larger than... More

We arrived at 6:15 on a Friday evening. For the first 45 minutes or so it was very quiet and enjoyable. The drinks were good and the appetizer of grilled calamari tasty, albeit a bit rubbery. It was served with a bit of arugula with olive oil. Simple, but nice. Around 7pm the restaurant was filling up and the noise... More

Tartufo is a lovely restaurant which serves fresh, delicious Italian cuisine in a lovely environment with very attentive service. You can sit at the bar and enjoy a casual meal, or at a more intimate table with a nice bottle of wine for a more romantic dinner. You can find traditional favorites (I love the veal piccata) and deliciously prepared... More

Got together with 3 friends for dinner last night at Tartufo and have to write about our dining experience. We first lingered over drinks and I have to comment on the one non alcoholic drink that was probably setlzer presented in a distinctive glass and garnished beautifully. The first course of arugala and caesar salad were both dressed perfectly. We... More
