My husband and I always share their perfect sushi/sashimi platter for two. The meal begins with hot towels and green tea if you request it. Their salad has real greens, no iceberg, delicately dressed. Miso soup follows. The ample platter is beautifully presented with a lovely orchid (just to look at) and two oba leaves (no plastic!) to wrap around... More

I LOVE this place. I have been here 4 times now, and have had consistently delicious sushi. It is so pretty and tranquil, and the food and staff are great. I believe that fresh fish should be a given at any sushi restaurant, and they definitely do a great job in that department. What I think makes them better than... More

Daikanyama food quality varies from time to time and is generally overpriced. Service is very poor, with unfriendly wait staff, they never, ever smile. Not a good place for a business lunch as they take tooooo long.

The dishes are presented beautifully, and service is very attentive at this posh yet family friendly spot. The decor is beautiful and clean. We love going there. It's on the pricey side, but worth it. It is not really in Bloomingdales, and feels like a standalone that has one entrance to the parking lot, and another into the dept. store.

Sat at the sushi bar and had great sushi. I tried my standard sushi, maguro, saba, hamachi, sake, tamago and toro. All were great. The toro was a bit expensive, @$20 probably would not order again.

This is a friendly, warm and wonderful Japanese restaurant. There is a lovely sake menu; although the warm sake is not identified, it was very good. The sushi is extremely fresh and tasty, beautifully prepared and presented. The hit was the yellowtail teriyaki. Although the suggestion was to have it medium, we ordered it rare to raw after confirming that... More

Daikanyama is one of my favorite sushi places in Newton. This restaurant seems to have mastered it all with great food, great service, decent pricing, and a welcoming environment. Upon walking in, you'll notice that the restaurant is not cafeteria-sized, like many other modern restaurant. It's a nice cozy environment, and the hosts will always welcome you warmly. The most... We have eaten at Daikanyama many times. Food is always excellent, fresh and unique. One of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever been to (including those in Japan).

Very fresh fish, attentive service, and lovely room. Too bad it's tucked away in Bloomies. It's not the best sushi in town but it's better than most and has become a family favorite.

The moment you enter this small restaurant, you'll notice the gorgeous design of the space and the sushi chef hard at work making some of the most fantastic and artistic variations of the standard sushi. They display their menu using a Kindle tablet which they leave at your table. Try their sweet banana braised in Japanese rice wine for dessert... More
