The food here is average at best across the board. The details are lacking in a big way. From the Chinese offerings ... Wonton soup features the most tasteless broth I have ever had. Crab rangoons were dry, over fried and missing the 'crab'. Everything I have had seems bland. For Chinese Food in Newburyport, China One wins even though... More

When you give an estimate of 20 minutes on the phone, it should never take 1 hour. Don't believe the estimates. Seems that sushi orders can significantly delay your order. I would not order from here if you are in a hurry.

We visited Szechuan Taste on a late Saturday evening. It can always concerning when you visit a restaurant at the end of a night. However, Szechuan Taste did not disappoint. The food was fresh and nicely presented. The waiter was very friendly and added to the experience. The Hunan Chicken was nicely spiced and had plenty of mixed vegetables. The... More

I'm pretty much in agreement with the other reviewers here. It seems to be a matter of taste. There are a number of restaurants that serve Szechuan this way back home, and I wasn't really impressed with any of those either. For example, I ordered the Bean Curd Szechuan Style expecting it to be "hot" as Szechuan is supposed to... More

We were the only diners there, at 6:00 pm, and now I know why. The food was seriously bad, and all of the dishes seemed to have the same "sauce". Some of our party of 5 were brought things that we didn't even order. The bartender was not familiar with the different brands of gin. We will not be back.

We just moved to Newburyport, and was not sure about trying Szechuan after reading some of the reviews... but figured how bad can Pork Fried Rice be? So we went ahead, ordered takeout and were very satisfied with the quality and quantity. We stuck with the classics-Fried Rice, Fried Shrimp and Chicken in Garlic Sauce. Everything was very good, not... More

At least once a year my wife and I visit Downtown Newburyport, MA and almost always, dine at the "Szechuan Taste and Thai Cafe" at 19 Pleasant Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. Their phone number is 978-463-0686 and their fax number is 978-463-4308. It's nice when a card is provided with this info! This past Monday, we had Chicken Lo Mein... More

The lunch specials are fresh and very filling. I was impressed with the portion that I was served. I will definitely dine with them again.

When they asked if I wanted my ice tea refilled, I said yes and thanks. My bill showed they charged me for two glasses and when I questioned it they said because you had two glasses. I told them I have never been charged for a refill and they said sorry. I asked why they don't tell you it is... More

We've always enjoyed Chinese food, and have gotten a bit picky...this particular restaurant is dependably good, great prices, and excellent service
