Go for the fried clams

In all actuality, Park Lunch should get 3 1/2 stars, but that's not an option with the TA rating system.. No worries, though, Park Lunch is a good, old standby that is walking distance for locals, but sufficient parking if you're not.. The menu is varied, but we always seem to circle back and order... read more

We stumbled on Park Lunch - it is "off the beaten track" and as a result is not packed with tourists but with locals. It is a few (10 or so) minutes walk east from the main touristy area, under the overpass and into a residential area. It is a venerable institution; although it suffered a bad fire some years... Had a delicious lunch. My fried clams were awesome. Served nice & hot & plentiful. My granddaughter enjoyed her grilled cheese and drawing on the back of the placemat. The menu was pricey for the casual atmosphere, but we were being treated to the meal, so not a big deal :-)

This is the place if you are looking for perfect pub food and atmosphere. Always good fried food, and a lively place. If you are looking for a bite late at night Park Lunch is the place to go. Lots of local color in a festive atmosphere.

Nothing seems to have changed since this place opened in 1957. Knotty pine walls, pictures of all the local sports teams back to bouffant hair and a 1914 Boston Braves pennant! First time here, and had to have the fried clams. Out came a massive plate of clams and fries and slaw. The clams were some of the smallest we... More

Spent every summer of my boyhood city in this wonderful city and lived here in the war years 1943-45. Ambience the same over the decades, as are the wonderful waitresses....but oh, my....the best fried clams in all of New Engtand....still! Same perfected sea fare.

Stopped here for a late dinner on our way to Maine. Read reviews on tripadvisor and decided to try. We had never had fried clams so that's what we ordered. They were very good. Not greasy. Fries also not greasy. Owner? Brought our food and check. Waitress only took our order and never came back.

I drove from Maine to go to Park Lunch in Newburyport, MA for the fried clams. It was well worth the trip! Best clams in the 3 states (Maine, NH, Mass), really. Great service, no frills, great fried scallops and fries too. Waitress said they change the oil in the fryers often so the food is not greasy. Yum!

It is a local place which is always a sure sign that the food will be good. However I wasn't prepared to have the best fried shrimp I have ever eaten. They were so well prepared, the batter was light and the shrimp were perfectly cooked, firm to the bite. My husband had the fried whole belly clams and he... More
