Good location, great bar -- menu hasn't changed in eons, but it's sufficiently decent to make the Cow a reliable choice in Newburyport. The outside dining deck is a big plus.

Great food, affordable, casual and never disappointing. The service is top notch. Setting is open and comfortable. I've been a few times and am never worried I won't find something to enjoy on the menu. Plenty of options for cold brews and drinks.

The Black Cow is right on the river providing beautiful sunsets and just a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I've only sat in the lounge area but never had to wait to be seated and got great service. They have a large porch area with a bar which is great for the Spring/Summer season (wait time... More

We stopped for lunch on a cold January day. The clam chowder was delicious with tender clams. I had a chicken breast sandwich which was there special of the day and it was cooked perfectly as were the onion strings. Location was great, wait time was so little, atmosphere was great, prices were great, food was the best. Glad we chose The Blackcow instead of Michaels.

This is a go to place for people visiting Newburyport due to its location on the river. Our table of 5 had a really nice time here. The food is essentially nicely executed pub fair which is fine. The ribs we had were on par with Hillstone in Boston which is saying something because those are really good. The atmosphere... More

Newburyport is obviously home to many, many wealthy individuals and has continued over the last decade to keep producing fantastic dining opportunities. Even though the avg income of its residents is approx 20% higher then most of MA, it still provides incredible dining experiences like the Black Cow with very reasonable pricing of its menu items. If you stop in... More

Hadn't eaten at this location in about 5 years and was presently surprised by the updated menu and atmosphere. The menu is more modern and has lots of " bar food" options

Food is generally very good, though the menu never seems to change and I don't think it is terribly creative or varied. Its a little pricey for what it is in my opinion, but the location and view are superb. They have a decent wine list, but again, a little pricey. They have a nice bar area that is slightly... More

Excellent Clam Chowder, amazing onion and goat cheese tart, exceptional lobster pasta... The waiters were very nice and hospitable. It was a very clean restaurant with very nice view of the sea
