I went here for a date as friends had suggested that the location was quite romantic and I agree. We got a table outside and the service was very friendly. I loved their beer selection and while the food wasn't outstanding, it was fresh and solid. Nothing out of the ordinary with their fried calamari. I would definitely come here... More

Went here with family and had an outstanding lunch out on the back patio overlooking the water. Great service, great scenery, and the food was excellent. I had the Caeser salad with salmon on top. The salad was great, but the salmon was cooked to perfection, which is a rarity in most eateries. The calamari was also well cooked and... More

Not happy tonight? Did they change the chief? Last visit was amazing, we should have cooked at home tonight. Even though the steak was great the sauce was unidentifiable. It was, definitely not red wine demi glaze. The perfect meal all things compliment each other. Not the way wanted to celebrate my daughters 18 th birthday. :(

We sat on the outside deck overlooking the river at sunset. Outstanding!!! Our party enjoyed an array of cocktails and we shared the best nachos any of us have had! Our waitress was great, always there when we needed her! What a fun relaxing evening!

This was the 2nd time we went to the Black Cow. The first experience was not good but on the recommendation of others who love it tried again. Wine and beer lists are adequate, side dishes were decent but the main courses were just average. The swordfish was a very thin cut and bland in taste. The statler chicken breast... More

We stopped by on Father;s Day for lunch and found that we had made reservations for the sister location some distance away. The manager was kind enough to call the other location, confirm our reservation, and find us a table right on the window overlooking the harbor. The food was excellent, but the attention of the staff and service made... More

Newburyport is a scenic town to visit. When hunger appears, the Black Cow is a reliable solution for this condition. We received a gracious greeting from the staff, seating on the veranda overlooking the Merrimack River was scenic and comfortable. Our server appeared promptly and got the lunch agenda underway efficiently. Lunch specials were one choice (salmon burger, kindly priced... More

The Black Cow location has a long history in my family as it was one of my parents' favorite places. So for my mother's 90th birthday weekend, it seemed an appropriate place to go. The weather could not have been lovelier--warm and sunny. We had a booth beside a window inside (the deck was full) and it provided some privacy... More

& did I say great drinks?! From blueberry cocktails to local beers on draft to fine wines. We had a thoroughly good time sharing crab cake appetizers, followed by baked haddock, salmon, and lobster croissant. Then an apple crisp with ice cream & caramel sauce to share. Great place to meet friends.
