Two friends and I recently went to the Black Cow without a reservation on a beautiful Saturday in September. Though very crowded, even at 5:30pm, the wait was only about 20 minutes. Don't let the name fool you, this is a full scale, very large restaurant. The "Tap and Grill" moniker, to me, makes one possibly think of a hole... More

We strolled upon the Black Cow on the Marina at newburyport - really nice place, good food, reasonably priced and happy to sit there and watch the boats go by For Lunch we had lobster roll which was delicious. Nicely decorated gastro-bar, fantastic location overlooking the marina - - in fact we enjoyed it so much we went there for... More

Great food, great service, delish mixed drinks! The fried oysters were particularly good, as was the salmon.

Not sure what the big fuss is. Glenn's around the corner is a hundred times better. Place is crowded with green heads and ugly women who crawled out of the sea My advice. Stay away. Hit agave

I went to Newburyport for the day with my aunt and stopped at the tourist information booth to find a good place to eat. He showed as the restaurants in the area and we decided to go to the Black Cow because it was supposed to have seafood. We were very disappointed! We asked for an outside table which was... More

Great food with a view. Usually crowded so call ahead. They also have another Black Cow in Hamilton,MA. It is not as fancy but I love it too.

I began going to this nicely placed restaurant on the waterfront back in 2007. Fun place to go, good food, GREAT service, and most importantly, an excellent value. However, as time has passed it seems as though the value has lowered. The servings shrank while the prices swelled. Still, not withstanding that, the location and the service were ALWAYS without... Enjoyed a wonderful seafood dinner. Started with the mussels, which were outstanding followed by the grilled salmon. I highly recommend this entree! Thank to my sister and brother-in-law for the treat.

Overall everyone thought that the food was very good. It was a business dinner with a group of nine. We had a variety of food from seafood, to steak and from tuna to vegetarian. Very well presented and the service was particularly good. The salads were excellent and whilst it is a la carte this should not deter you. Good... More
