Sitting by the water is great.......

I have been here before and always asked for a table. This time I was told that I could seat myself in a section on the deck overlooking the Merrimac River. Got 2 seat for my wife and myself. My wife had a pasta dish of penne, chicken and chorizo in a pink sauce. The chorizo was a nice addition... read more

My husband and I visited the Black Cow on Saturday night. We had a couple of drinks and appetizers in the bar. Nachos were the best we've had (even better than Mexican places) and boneless buffalo chicken was excellent as well. The weather was gorgeous, but we did not eat on the deck. Instead we were at a high top... More

I am a local and find myself in the wonderful spot of many places to go out to eat or drink in our town. The Black Cow is a solid spot for many of my weekly outings. Day-drinking with a friend to evening dinners and celebrations. Bonus time: summer months on the deck - go for happy hour or sit... More

My husband made dinner reservations for Saturday night - highly recommend. Had drinks on the deck under staffed but the girls were great , very attentive. Dinner was fabulous our server Lindsey wonderful. Food great BUT not inexpensive and parking is inadequate.

Great deck for the summers and a very good place for dates and business meetings. AMERICAN cuisine. Not cheap, but good spirits and food are never cheap. Parking is painful.

Came here with a large group, no reservations on a Saturday and was seated rather quickly. Wayne our server was really great. He took all our drink orders and remembered who had what. I had the walnut salad with Salmon and my husband had a Burger. Both were fantastic. Had a Crab Cake (that is singular) for an appetizer, which... More

My wife and I went there last Thursday for an evening meal to relax and enjoy the food and water view. The physical location and view are awesome and the service from our waitress was equally as good. That is where all the top end praise ends. My wife ordered a veggie burger which she said was good and swapped... More

Ok so I have always wanted to try this place when we come to Newbury Port, and $65 later, I wish I hadn't. We sat at a high top which was fine, but the food lacked any kind of seasoning. Also when someone orders well done steak, please make it well done. Both of our steaks were pink, I barely ate mine. Honestly... More

Went there for a late lunch with our grown children and the food was really great. It's such a great spot to grab lunch or dinner and the location can't be beat, right on the river! It went through a small rough patch when the food wasn't consistent, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the quality and freshness... More

Visiting Newburyport for the first time, we went into the Black Cow & Tap but left after getting a shocking welcome from a member of staff who clearly doesn't enjoy her job. It was a busy day, the1st good day in 2015, but her attitude stinks. Never actually managed to buy a beer.
