We lived in Newburyport for many years and frequently dined here. It has been here for at least several decades and is a sort of mainstay of this beautiful community. On a recent visit to Newburyport, we stopped in for lunch. A World Cup match was on TV and the place was rather crowded. The Grog has a very good... More

Good food with a friendly staff. The atmosphere is pub-like. Great live music on the weekends (usually blues).

I've been to the Grog previously with my folks and thought it was pretty decent, nothing that wowed me but nice family style pub restaurant. But this visit was not good. Firstly we had a long wait for anyone to come to the table to even acknowledge us. It was busy, but nothing I haven't seen at a million other... More

Great dinner and drinks! Excellent service too! It was open mike night and the music was wonderful. It's on a side street and worth going there for great food and a welcoming environment.

Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon - great atmosphere with a lot of eclectic art. Our bartender, Cheryl, was very nice and helpful. They have a ton of beers on tap that are changed out frequently and the menu was good. Has 4 floors and a bar on each one.

We came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place is dark and dingy. The waitress was very unfriendly, service was very slow and it wasn't even busy. We weren't starving, so we only ordered French onion soup, which was tasteless and a spinach wrap sandwich which had barely anything in it and was again tasteless. I will not... More

Stopped for a bite to eat - ended up stuffing ourselves by the vast 'snack' which was brought to us by a pleasant waitress. Reasonable prices also.

Enjoyed a great mushroom Quesada. Wasn't an everyday meal as it had spinach, scallions, sautéed onions, and a great cheese. Was served with 2 different sauces. One was a yogurt dill cream and the other a really great salsa. I look forward to going back again.

If you're looking for good food at reasonable prices try the Grog. Located in downtown Newburyport on a side street, it has it's own parking lot which is a plus in this area. Good food and walking distance to the waterfront - it's where the locals go.

My sister and I needed a quiet place to share a meal. While we went out to lunch, unfortunately, the waitress was also "out to lunch." But, for what it was, it was pretty good. Not "very good" but better than average. My sister had been there before and loves the place, declaring that it had the best Reuben sandwich... More
