We thoroughly enjoyed David's place. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. The friendly staff and the music topped off our experience.

When I first moved to the Newburyport area last summer, I was looking forward to enjoying the waterfront deck restaurants and cocktail spots around town. However, I soon found that they are often early crowded with early 20-somethings looking to party and dance in the summertime. I soon sought another venue with a bit more reserved and adult atmosphere. David's... More

Very quaint place! The ambience is so nice, with its brick walls, and candlelight! Food is excellent and there is music on Saturday nights. Walking distance from downtown to the water front!

Bartenders were so helpful. Service was a little slow, but overall worth the wait. Food was excellent and the choices outstanding. Desserts were positively yummy!

David's Tavern in located in the Basement of the Garrison inn where I stay on a regular basis. Good Food and Great service. Nice place to Unwind after a long day! George at the Bar is super to talk with

Can't understand the appeal of this place, other than that it has a babysitting room, which I guess is a huge plus for parents of young kids. Tried twice; both times, the food was dreadfully overcooked- both fish and pasta- with no effort put into presentation, or flavor for that matter, and the service is almost nonexistent. Strangely, this place... More

We enjoyed the atmosphere, ambiance and food, however the quality of the alcohol was questionable. We are martini drinkers, specifically Tanqueray and Grey Goose. We sat at the bar and watched the bartender make the martinis, so we knew it wasn't a matter of too much vermouth, however we both looked at each other and asked "Does your martini taste... More

We have been going to David's for dinner for many, many years, as it is about half way between our home and our friends', who live in Maine. Upstairs is quieter but less formal than it used to be; the white tablecloths are long gone. We opted for downstairs as we enjoy the entertainment. Last night they played 60's music,... More

Such a cozy and warm place! Yes, the building is older... it is after all in an old, historic wonderful town. Who cares? The food is fantastic! Our group ordered the mussels (fabulous... a meal in itself), goat cheese phyllo packets, and their own version of quesadillas (all on a special happy hour priced menu). My husband had an order... We chose this establihment based on others recommendation. Poor choice. The dining room was dark, the ceiling looked as though it was patched with an old piece of drywall in spots. The Clam chowder was lacking full flavor.. All in all not our best choice for a meal
