Nice Choice for Brunch

I've been to David's Tavern several times for brunch and have not been disappointed. Newburyport tends to be crowded, especially in the summer. We wanted a cozy restaurant to end the year and left the Boston buzz for David's Tavern: excellent decision! We were not sure what to expect but from our arrival to departure, everything was outstanding. We had a 4 course meal starting with succulent oysters and delicious coconut crusted jumbo (and I do mean jumbo!) shrimp, followed by New England... More

we had an excellent visit to DT. The wine was great, appetizer delicious, bread amazing...when our meal came, mine was cooked to perfection. My husband commented that his fish and chips were a bit odd. I tried a bite and described the breading as being a bit doughy. We did not mention anything to our server, as we had had... More

we took a group of 10 on a Friday night. when I made the reservation I asked if they would have live music and was told they would. when we got there they had no live music. the food was average but the service was very, very slow. overall we were disappointed and felt we let our friends down.

The bartender at David's Tavern was friendly and welcoming. The service and food could not be beat! The hamburger was delicious and the mashed potatoes were some of the best I have ever had.

My wife and I were looking for someplace local and someplace new to explore that also had live music. We love the Newburyport area and it has many nice restaurants, quaint shops and alleys and side streets to explore. We found David's Tavern online. We made reservations for dinner in the downstairs Tavern for 7PM on a Saturday night expecting... More

Went out to see the town and ended up here at the end of the night. Really nice people and the decor was awesome. We only had some drinks and an appetizer but both were good.

Upon a recommendation my husband and I dined here on a recent Sunday evening. It was with great delight that we did. This gem is located in the historic Garrison Inn. That alone makes it worth the trip, but the comfy tavern downstairs from the dining room must be tried. Yes they do have 7 apps for $7 beginning at... More

When I first moved to the Newburyport area last summer, I was looking forward to enjoying the waterfront deck restaurants and cocktail spots around town. However, I soon found that they are often early crowded with early 20-somethings looking to party and dance in the summertime. I soon sought another venue with a bit more reserved and adult atmosphere. David's... More
