Visited Zaftigs for the second time. First time was disappointing so I decided to wait awhile and try again. For context, I was a life-long Joan & Ed's devotee. I really wanted to love Zaftig's. Today I ordered the "Empire Eggs," an over-the-top combo of poached eggs, spinach, lox and potato pancakes. Hey, it's a deli. I didn't go there... More

Too expensive for our BLOOD. $50.00 for lunch plus tip is not for us. Waitress was too busy with other customers to give us her proper attention. They appeared to be short of wait staff. Everyone was in a dither. The Reuben sandwich was good but not exceptional - best part of the entire experience was their potato salad, how... More

Breakfast, lunch, dinner..oh yeah, and brunch. You can be pretty sure of getting a good meal. Oh, and while your waiting for your potato pancakes (crisp on the outside, tasty in) you can be amused by the clever sayings on the staffs' TShirts. No, it's not New York but it's good food, with reasonable service. Go. Eat.

THis place used to be Joan and Ed's Deli, but that's where the similarity ends. It definitely ain't Joan and Eds. I'm kind of a Reuben snob. J&E's was the best. Zaftigs was good, not great. The corned beef was a little chewier than I like but it tasted like a Reuben. The rest of the meal was not inspiring.... More

The food here is amazing. Everything tastes homemade. The Reuben's are huge. My favorite is the stuffed cabbage rolls - just like my grandmother's! Portions are enormous which is great for the value and lunch the next day.

I just finished reviewing a highly rated restaurant in another town in the area I thought was terrible. With average ratings, I wasn't expecting much here, but I was pleasantly surprised. The only reason I did not rate the restaurant excellent was that it was not fancy. I started with the latke with salmon and sauce. It was wonderful and... More

I'm one of those people who loves breakfast any time of the day, so I'm just thrilled that they offer this fabulous meal all day! Our waitress, Colleen, could not have been nicer. Seriously. We were only there once before, and she remembered our exact order! That's some serious customer service. For the food... I had the omelette with corned... More

I recently had lunch again with a friend at Zaftig's. The food is mostly good, but the waitstaff leaves much to be desired of. This does not apply to the Brookline restaurant. Big Difference. There were several instances when the waitress was rude. Also, we were asked if we did not want to order an appetizer, as well. Apparently she... More

I ordered take-out form here and never should have. I got food poisoning a while back at their Brookline location, but they were the only quick option for takeout nearby. Wow, I should have listened to my better judgement. The order was completely wrong, but not something that would be immediately noticeable. For example, one of the sandwiches we ordered... More

Granted Saturday mornings can be busy but our waitress seemed to just ignore us. We had to 1) ask for her after the "few minutes" she gave us to look at the menu turned into almost 10 minutes; 2) ask another wait-staff to refill our water...because we didn't see our waitress; 3) give the cash for the bill, because again,...
