Bistro 5 is an unassuming restaurant opposite the West Medford train station - attractive look, full bar, attentive, intelligent service. But what we really liked was the food! Delicious, inventive Italian cooking, well-executed. The duck "prosciutto" appetizer was highly inventive charcuterie - transparently thin sliced smoked and cured duck breast, a remarkable foie gras crème brûlée (really!) and melon-rhubarb confit... I've been many times and I've never had a bad meal. In addition to stellar food, the wine pairings have never disappointed. Several times the recommendations made by their bartender have resulted in great new wine discoveries -- wines I continue to buy and drink at home. The atmosphere is comfortable and the noise level isn't out of control. Bistro... More

Our first visit. It was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was quite quiet. Friendly knowledgeable staff. We each started with a salad of greens or beets. Both were very good. I had the boar pasta entree which was excellent and my dining companion the scallops which were cooked to perfection. We then indulged in the home made gelatos which... More

A neighborhood place that doesn't disappoint. Tuesdays is $1 oyster night and they are really fresh from Wellfleet. We had the ink pasta with seafood that was very tasty and fresh. It also had saffron pasta in it for a wake up your taste bud effect. Also had the salmon which was also really good. Bistro 5 is a must... More

Treated my son on the graduation day. It doesn't usually open on Sunday but they did that day for the event. It is very good. Starting with the dip for bread, delicious. The ordination is artistic, and the food was very good. Server was courteous. Wife had Salmon, and I ordered scallops. They were cooked to perfection, to my taste.... More

Great restaurant many years ongoing. Always consistent. Great place for a special occasion. Occasionally they have seasonal dining and wine pairings . Ask for Vittoria the owner.

We opened with the salt cod aranchini, nice mellow fish taste and great texture. Went on to the crispy tuna--it was awesome, thin crisp crust, still super rare and delicious, last was the rabbit, perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, profiterols for dessert, the only mediocre point, was good but not great. Found a great value on the wine list, enjoyed... More

When you need a special place for a quiet dinner but want to avoid the typical city hubbub, try Bistro 5 in Medford, MA. It's cozy with service that's attentive, knowledgeable and not obtrusive. The contemporary Italian menu is diverse, comes well plated, fairly priced, not overly complicated and most importantly delicious. The menu changes regularly, this season is for... More
