Setting the bar high

Good local place with friendly staff. The food is all home made, from the chunky (not puréed) salsa to the tortillas. Better flavor than any chain place. They have set a tough standard for any other Mexican place to meet.

We tried El Huipil again after a two year wait. Not any better except they have a liquor license. Dishes are OK but rice is very bland, refried beans swim on the plate and lettuce is dead. Tamal was very strange tasting. At least the bottled beer is good. Place was nearly empty on an early weekday evening.

My last review of El Huipil was very positive, and I've eaten here several times since with good experiences. Last week's outing was so mediocre; however, that I felt obligated to speak up. My hope is that the restaurant still aims for high quality, but if they continue to cut corners, they're going to drive away even their most loyal... More

I am far from a gourmet so I suppose some will disagree with me but I enjoy El Huipil and have eaten there several times both alone (lunch) and with my wife. The food is good with generous portions but what I have ordered is pretty pedestrian: burritos, tacos, etc. I'm confused about the "chip & salsa policy"; The menu... More

Let me start by saying I am not latino however, I love the culture and food. The sign says mexico, but the food is water down American Mexican food. I have been to Mexico many times, and I know good food, this is not. The only reason why I did not give them a one was the service.

I have eaten lunch here with a good friend several times, and keepo coming back. We think that the food here is very good (I would stick to the basics: enchiladas chile verdes or carnitas, for example), not expensive, and the service is friendly and pleasant. Nice people. Good selection of mostly Mexican beers (it's no longer BYOB). I would... More

Authentic food, well prepared, well priced and friendly service. Bring the family, it wont break the bank. We go there once a week now, so I can also say consistent quality.

From other parts of the country you would know the best Mexican food is from a little hole in the wall mom and pop restaurant. This is what you have here. Much better than Mexican styled chain restaurants in the area. This is the second or third lunch with the guys at work I've had here. The Beef Super Burrito... More

I wouldnt say that El Huipil had the best mexican food I have ever had, actually quite average. However, the service is good, the food is consistent and its very convenient to where I live. Not a bad place to go for a quick bite, very casual and serves beer.

We went to El Huipil for lunch and had combo plates which came out cold. A first in our experience with Mexican restaurants. We were asked if we wanted chips and salsa and of course we said yes. Later we found that we were charged for these and also for guacamole which we did not ask for. This was another... More
