We were seated outside near the water fountains and later the fire. It was beautiful and very relaxing. Between the six of us we order a lobster (good) a stuffed lobster (great) a turkey dinner (great and a very good value at $9.99 with a brownie sundae dessert) and scallops and shrimp with angel hair pasta(good but a little watery... Our family of adults enjoyed a meal here where some of us ordered the bar pizzas and others shared baked stuffed lobster. Good food, but we waited quite long for the food to arrive to the point where we weren't sure the order was submitted. The wait staff is very good; yet, the delayed food orders are a burden to... We were very pleased with everything from our initial phone call to make a reservation right down to our parting "good nites". Between the bar, outdoor seating, and dining room, the restaurant was quite full at 7 PM on a Sat. nite. Service was on top of things and patient when it took our party time to review the entire... This is a reliable local restaurant and bar. Food may not be exotic or gourmet but it is always good, with hearty portions and reasonable prices. We booked this restaurant for a post funeral luncheon and the staff were incredibly supportive and cheerfully accommodated an overflow of guests. Their service was extraordinary and made a difficult event comfortable and easy... More

This restaurant runs very hot & cold. Sometimes the meals are very good, other times just plain bad.

The only good thing about our experience was the warm greeting we received upon entry and the waitress. The food was really not good at all. The clam chowder had virtually no clams and was unbearably salty. The burgers were overcooked despite my explaining ahead of time how I like it cooked. The lettuce was wilted, the tomatoes hard, the... More

I had one of the meals on the "special" menu, the swordfish. The portion was quite small and thin, but it was tasty and not too dried out. The meal came with two sides, I chose the summer medley and a baked potato, the "summer medley" was summer squash and zucchini that had absolutely no flavor what-so-ever. The baked potato... More

The Marshfield Tavern is a very good bet for a quality meal at a reasonable price. Would I list it as one of the top restaurants in Marshfield? Probably not. But I know I can count on them and that says a lot. Each time I go there I am certain I will get food that is fresh, tasty, and... More

We arrived at about 4:20pm because we were headed to an early evening movie. The Tavern's website says they start serving dinner at 4:00 but when we got there, they were not ready to tell us the daily specials. We were the only ones there when we arrived...after about 15 minutes, they still were not ready to tell us the... More
