We were heading back to Boston and just wanted to stop for a drink as our friends used to spend time here when they lived in the area. Four of us went for lunch at this restaurant located on the Marblehead harbor. Good views, interesting, something moving all the time. The owner also owns a couple of lobster boats, so fresh seafood seems a certainty. Lunch for four ran about $20/ head and we all had some form of seafood. Good food, reasonable for the area. We'll be... More

Before my vacation ends each summer, in the quaint little town of Marblehead MA, I stop in The Barnacle for the "Barnacle Seafood Platter". It includes haddock, clams, scallops, shrimp and onion rings. One fried platter was more than enough for two people. The restaurant is Marblehead's oldest family-owned restaurant located on the harbor with outside seating on the deck,... More

Excellent local restaurant. If the locals go you know it has to be good. One review stated that they liked the :"Landing" better. Sir, I went to the landing once and they admitted that at the time they were using frozen lobster meat for the lobster roll. Being a New Englander, that is the biggest "no-no". Better off telling a... More

This is a Marblehead institution that we often visit with out of town guests. It is not five star cuisine, but offers quite good food with a wonderful view of Marblehead harbor. They have a small dining room along with outdoor deck seating. If you visit as a couple, think about sitting at the narrow counter facing directly onto the... More

I think of The Barnacle as a local seafood shanty - beautiful location on the water with a building that feels like one good storm could relocate it out to sea. The restaurant is very small and crowded. Difficult to walk to your table during peak hours. Views are breathtaking if you can snag an outdoor table or table with... More

I've been going to the Barnacle since childhood. Recently I brought my youngest daughter there. We had lunch and later dinner. Twin lobster out on the porch looking at the Ocean, it can not get better than this. The food is still the same, the waitstaff are wonderful. It is by far my favorite restaurant!

Why? Well, maybe we forgot from 2 years ago how average the food is. My prior review said that it was diner food at tourist prices. Hasn't changed. This evening had mussels (not bad, but many of the shells were empty); baked haddock, and some kind of shrimp thing. The usual baked potato with plastic sour cream, servers who seem... More

It seems like every two years or so, we must trek from Central Pennaylvania to Marblehead to visit The Barnacle and each time we go it is just as good or better then the previous time! This time we took our family on a belated Christmas present/vacation to see the Red Sox play but before that we made the trip... More

This is a local bar and the best place to hang out if you want a few beers or a stiff drink. The food is typical fried seafood and lobsters, decent, but nothing special. Steamers are great when in season. It's the place we go to on a beautiful summer afternoon or during a winter snowstorm to chat with locals.
