I was looking for a lunch destination on the Marblehead harbor. Upon seeing the location over the water, I ventured inside the rustic exterior. I learned the luncheon menu only included light fare items. So I decided to wait for the 5pm dinner menu. I am happy I did both for appreciation of the view and the seafood. Both were... More

The Barnacle existed when I was still in town and it has become a legend. Having been away for so long, I've had a lot of average to very good seafood but have greatly missed the REAL Marblehead seafood. It must be the perfect salt water conditions in the area--not sure, but there is something very special and tasty about... More

Shared a terrific seafood platter. Nice, light batter. Plenty of scallops, shrimp, clams and fish, plus onion rings.

Little restaurant wedged into the side of a cliff, over looking ships, yachts, and lovely areas of the beach. The water splashed up on the rocks below us as we watched birds dive for fish. The food was wonderful. Salmon salad, and fish tacos. Make sure you take your walking shoes because the neighborhood is very interesting and the scenery... More

My wife love to travel all over New England, so we have eaten in hundreds of places. And we loved this little town of Marblehead, Mass, and wanted to have a nice lunch on the waterfront. "The barnacle," one locals told us. OK, fought to find a place to park. Nice view, very nice view... But it ended there. Inside... More

We landed at Logan and were driving to NH/VT/ME and wanted to stop for an authentic New England meal on the way but not on the highway. The Barnacle was the perfect choice!!! Set overlooking the water in beautiful Marblehead, you will feel enveloped by the charm of New England! The food is excellent, great prices! Make sure you order... More

The Barnacle on the ocean front in Marblehead, Ma. This quaint little New England sea side restaurant sets right on the oceans edge in Massachusetts. Sounds like it ought to be great. It was even recommended by a local as so many places are. Unfortunately so many people have gotten used to mediocre at best, so one can no longer... More

Front Street, a narrow, winding street in Marblehead, is located on the water. The Barnacle Restaurant has one of my favorite seafood platters and deep fried, of course. The location overlooks the ocean and the atmosphere is pub-like with local food and friends.

I take a visitor to Boston here for lunch every year or two. In summer especially we go for the lobster rolls, but the entire menu is delicious and we try different seafood or fish specialties. The service is good and prices are fair. Of course, the view across the bay is fantastic! If there is a table, sit on... More
