Fun restaurant with very tasty and original food. We went on a very busy night and the service was perfectly fine. We even saw the owner helping out. The house salad was very good and the duck entree was spectacular! My wife had the cod and she enjoyed it. My daughter ordered a pasta that was not on the menu... More

Food, service, decor, and noise level were all wonderful. The trout and steak were delicious and portions were large. The salads are definitely sharable.

Tucked away in the down town section of Lenox is Alta. It is a nice hideaway with romantically dimmed lighting, dark wood trim and an extensive wine selection. The menu has all your favorites created to the unique tastes of this establishment. Whenever I have been there, it has been packed, with people over flowing onto the front porch veranda... More

Three of us ate at the bar so cannot review main restaurant menu. Overall service and food were quite good and prices reasonable. Two of us had a burger and one had a salad. I had my burger with cheese, back and caramelized onions which came with hand cut fries. Very good burger and fries, $14. Others enjoyed their burger... More

We made a reservation a good month before our visit on July 5, 2014 and we’re glad we did! The table on the porch was ideal; great service and delicious, well prepared food that was reasonably priced. Despite being very busy on a Saturday night we never felt rushed. We had a wonderful experience at Alta and we highly recommend.

We had dinner twice at Alta during our stay in Lenox. Both times our expectations were exceeded. A wide choice of (Italian) dishes and wines is available. The natural customer focused approach of the staff added to having a great dining experience. Better to book a table well in advance for this Lenox hot spot.

The staff were polite and very attentive. The menu was varied and the food preparation was done very well. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively yet not loud, adding to the enjoyment of the meal.

First visit was for lunch on the outside veranda. A perfect spot to dine, with slow turning fans keeping the comfort level just right. The Bloody Mary was perfect for this hot afternoon. The Alta salad with grilled to perfection chicken was a Huge portion, very well seasoned, light yet filling. The salad Nicouis with poached tuna also man sized... More

Four friends were meeting for our annual vacation in the Berkshires. One remembered Alta from a past reunion. The experience didn't disappoint. It adds so much to an evening out to be treated like it's a pleasure, and even fun, to help you. The food was great. A good time was had by all.

In Latin "alta" means "high", "lofty", "great", and ALTA is all of these.I hadn't eaten at ALTA in a year. Alas! This was not self-denial, merely circumstances. ALTA, I'm happy to say, has not changed. Success has not gone to its staff's head. Everyone there makes it abundantly clear that they are happy to see you and that they want... More
