I've only had one experience with Clam Box, and I don't intend to go back. The place is very popular (usually a good sign, right?), so there was a line out the door. A friend and I figured we'd give it a shot. Turns out, they are VERY slow moving here. There were maybe 18 people in front of us.... More

The line outside the door really said it all. As I finally entered the door I saw a sign that the grease was changed each day at 2:30 which might cause a delay in food service. Inside, there was no smell of fish although the kitchen had been used since 1935! We had clam chowder (5 star), native clams which... More

I think if they tried they couldn't set up the order procedure and filling the orders to be any slower and more inefficient than they already are. ONE person slowly takes your order, your money and then takes the order to the kitchen. Then she/he slowly meanders back and takes the next persons order. The line goes way out the... More

The only reason they got 2 stars is because the customer service & the people working there were great, but that isn't enough to get me to go back. My husband and I have been meaning to try this place for a while on the recommendation of my father, so we made the trip out on a Friday night &... More

They must have been short staffed when we went because the line was extremely slow. (And it wasn't because they were changing oil.). The clams are good, but in my opinion not as good as Farnum's in Essex.

One of my business contacts brought me to Clam Box. Great place and not what I expected, but it was worth the drive. Nice experience! Missed a beer or a glass of white wine :-(

Had lunch here with my hubbie, and we ended up getting a clam roll (for me) and a scallop roll (for him). Also added on the fries and coleslaw sides, and with sodas, everything came to just over $50. Yes that is pricey for lunch, but the clams and scallops were super. And we got to eat in the Clam... More

When we first drove by on Friday afternoon, there was a small line. When we decided to get a snack on a warm Saturday night at 8:30pm..the line was huge! We got an order of the clam strips, fries and fried scallops and dined outside on a picnic table. Everything was delicious and we left stuffed.

Visited the Clam Box last week (visiting from Florida). The clams were DELICIOUS. However, prices had just gone up for the small bellied clam box (which we were informed by the sign outside and inside the door) and when I went to pay the girl that was taking the order, she said that there was an additional $2 surcharge per... I love clams so when the Clam Box was featured on the Phantom Gourmet I had to try them. If you like fried foods this is the place to go for good local food, the portions are so large that a doggie bag is a must. The line is always very long and the seating is very limited but it... More
