We come every year for the last few years and it never disappoints. If you see a line it is worth the wait. Costs may look high, but I find them reasonable if you really look at their own food costs. Worth the stop. Service is always friendly as well.

Travelled out of way to stop here based on reviews. Food is good and portions are large. Two of us split a plate. Limited indoor seating. Picnic tables outside. Would eat here again but not make a special trip to do so.

To help you choose between going to Clam Box of Ipswich or Woodman's of Essex, here's my list of pros and cons. Clam Box - Pros: Food may be a tad better Dining area is air conditioned Woodman's - Pros: Line moves much faster Much more seating available Split up the food line from the drink line Clam Box -... The Clam Box in Ipswich for years has hands done been the best seafood joint in New England. Last night was the worst experience we have ever had there. The food prices are absolutely friggen absurd. Its cheaper to get a sit down meal at Legal Seafood. There were dozens of flies in the dinning room we had to leave... More

Saw this place on Food Network. Got there about 11:30. Food was not cheap but was good. You order at window and then try to find a place to sit. Fried clams were under seasoned for my liking had better in Rockport. Place is popular. By noon the place had about 20 people in line to order. They do a... More

Great littel place off Highway 133 on our way to the beach. Pricey but the food is delicious and the servings are very generous.

Yes, it's touristy. Yes, it's rather expensive. But for Kentucky people, it was awesome. We tend to have fine BBQ but NO clams. So go local here & it's worth every penny. Sort of a wait but it's a very popular place--not just for tourists. You get a ton for your money. Believe us, we went for lunch & were... More

As always The ClamBox is fantastic! Everything is wonderful but especially the fried clams, onion rings and coleslaw! A perfect place to end the summer! (Although it's great any time of year!) On a nice day grab a picnic table outside too! The wait ( sometimes long) is worth it!

For over 30 years, every time I'm even remotely close to Ipswich, I go out of my way to grab a meal of fried clams at the Clam Box. This local legend cooks locally harvested Ipswich clams by lightly frying them with a consistency and quality that hasn't once wavered. I've had belly clams elsewhere, but they just don't compare.... I do not like seafood, but my husband and two kids do. My favorite fried seafood place is Ronnie's in Auburn, MA. I don't go to many of this type of restaurant, so I only have Ronnie's to compare to. When we got there the line stretched well into the parking lot, so it took us over an hour to... More
