Ipswich Clams- yum!

Get there 15 minuets early and line up by the door. We ordered the small Ipswich, strips and a lobster roll. Wish we skipped the stripes and got a large Ipswich, they were so good. The lobster roll had lots of lobster however I thought there was too much mayonnaise, I prefer butter. I dinged a... read more

The clam box might be coasting on its reputation. Very Pricey and the flies wanted to share our meal in the "dining room". the food, clams, fried fish, onion rings and clam chowder were OK but nothing you could not get at dozens of other clam shacks along the New England coast. The Lobster roll was also average at best.

If you are in the Ipswich, Rockport area this is the place to go for real fresh fried seafood. They change their oil every hour. Best fried clams you can find anywhere

I was totally disappointed with my lunch at the Clam Box. Between three of us we shared a small clam box, lobster roll, haddock, shrimp, cole slaw, french fries and onion rings. The clams were very tiny and flavorless, the haddock dry and mealy opposed to moist and flaky, lobster roll, although plentiful, was very chewy and overloaded with mayonnaise.... More

Best calms in Massachusetts - found it by chance and tried the higher priced clams and they were extraordinary - lots of lineups but be patient - it is worth the wait - you order and pay and sit then they call you to get order - staff friendly - was told afterwards by a Bostonian that this was the... Great owner. Very accommodating for engagement party food! Lobster rolls and fried clams are excellent!

The only reason I gave this a very good instead of excellent was sticker shock. This is one of my favorite seafood places anywhere, I am a clam strip freak, and love theirs. What I like about this place, they give your choice of two sides, you get a choice of fries, cole slaw or onion rings. Since I also... More

I don't mind standing in line, if the food is good, but my clams were expensive and overcooked. The onion rings were great, but I found the Clam Box hot, dirty (yes I know they had been busy, but the floor was dirty, and we had to clean our own table). I guess the next time I want clams I'll... This is a nice little seafood place, but I find it to be expensive. They have very good clam strips, whole clams, and haddock and decent clam chowder. The seating itself inside is extremely cramped and limited, with tiny bathrooms. If the weather is nice, it's a better bet to sit on the picnic tables outside. The wait here is... More

The clams were well cooked, not overdone. These are fried with the bellies the New Englander way. French fries were crispy and not oily. You can't say that about the shrimp. They were overcooked and oily, quite a disappointment. The line was extremely long and the wait for food was the normal for a popular fried food place. Just don't... More
