Great Fried Scallops

We were lucky today; went early, and it was still raining which maybe kept the crowds at bay. Cute from the outside, with numerous outdoor picnic tables on the far side of the parking lot. Inside was clean, with pleasant, quick and efficient service. Small dining room, with numerous booths and... read more

I go to the clambox at least 2x a summer. The food is always Fantastic! !! On weekends there tends to be a long line but they are pros and the line always moves quickly. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Fyi... they change the oil every day at 2:00 so that can slow down the line. If looking for... More

I love true Ipswich whole clams and this is the best I have tasted. Prepare for long summer lines during dinner hours but it is worth the wait.

My wife and I stopped here during our trip in new england. I thaught the clams were good but I expected bigger. Definitely not the best around since the day before I had clams just as good at the clam shack in salem willows park with no line in the hot sun and better atmosphere. Portions may have been larger... More

Excellent fried seafood. They change the oil regularly so it never tastes heavy or oily. The scallops and clams are amazing! Pass on the crab roll. The lobster roll is better. If you're eating at the picnic tables outside, be sure to be clear to others that you are waiting for a table. Otherwise, it's "finder's keeper's".

This was our first stop after arriving in Massachusetts. We loved the clams and they were prepared perfectly. The cole slaw was great too. The orders are HUGE so save yourself some money and share a meal.

The Clam Box is a small quirky restaurant in the shape of a clam box. There is usually a line extending out the door and the line moves slow. The fried clams are worth the wait. They are crispy on the outside and succulent within. The onion rings are not greasy and well prepared. The slaw and tarter sauce are... More

RUDEST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! Our family of four spent the day at nearby Swan Beach which is the most wonderful beach on Cape Ann... A brief thunderstorm sent us looking for lunch in nearby Ipswich... We personally received many great reviews for the Clam Box and read several others on tripadvisor... Unfortunately our lunch was ruined by how rudely we... More

The Clam Box is a popular restaurant - there was a constant line while we were there. I happen to love fried shrimp and was looking forward to checking this place out. However, everything on the menu is fried. I would have like to have some fresh veggie options to balance out the meal. We order shrimp and onion rings,... More

My hubby and I have fried clams once a year, due to health reasons. This has always been our "gold standard" for clams. The last few years we have had our clam fix elsewhere and not found anywhere better than Clam Box. We decided to go there today--early-to avoid the lines. 11:30 arrival-only a couple tables filled. We got a... More
