Be ready to wait

Finally made it to the Clam Box. On a Saturday around noon, we had to wait about 30 minutes in line. Surprisingly, there was plenty of room in the dining room when we finally got there. The lady at the window was very nice, despite the continuous line. The oysters were good, the fried haddock was... read more

On a recent trip out to Cape Ann, my Wife and I had planned on eating a lunch at Bunz Burgers in Ipswich, When we arrived however, what we found was a Walley World like sign advising that they were closed for maintenance. Next we stopped at a Dairy Queen whose menu board stated that they were sold out of... More

Have been going to the Clam Box for 30 years. Today it just as not the same. I think they are using a new breading . Something is different. They are good not great like they were. I guess all good things come to an end. Lot of money which I am willing to spend for consistency. It's gone. will... More

Don't order a plate - its too much food. The native clams are the reason to go. Don't bother with the rest of the stuff.

Had a great lunch at the Clam Box in Ipswich Mass over the weekend. The chowder was perfection. Two of us split a combination plate with some leftover and a small chowder each. Not greasy at all and the tartar sauce was delicious.

Long lines to get greasy food, no matter what you order. Can't believe that this place has gotten good reviews from Gourmet Magazine, among others. Don't understand why it continues to draw crowds.

Arguably the best fried clams in New England! Fried scallops are exquisite! Try the fried lobster ... You won't be disappointed!

The Clam Box is now a nationally known landmark, and visiting the area from Michigan, we had to try it. You place your order at a window counter just inside the door, and come back to pick it up when your number is called. The wait to place your order can be long depending on the time you visit and... The clam box is the best seafood around. The clams are huge and juicy. Once you eat here you'll understand that this place delivers. Located near Gloucester Ma it brings in very fresh seafood daily. They change their oil very often , as I waited in lin e for that. Best to go early like 3-4 pm before the line... More
