I hate leaving a bad review but our food was overcooked. Ordered the fried haddock dinner and it was very crisp. My friend ordered the pasta and meatballs and the pasta was way over cooked and tasteless. The twice baked potato was cold and sitting in a pool of oil. The salads were as basic as could be -just o.k..... More

I try to go once a week. I love the food. The place could definitely use an upgrade it's dark and old but it's hard to find good home cooked meals with so many chain restaurants out there.

We had been there many times in the last century and it was a great place for takeout and eat in. We read the reviews and were apprehensive but decided to go anyway. We were expecting the worse but the salad came and it was spot on. The spaghetti and meatball was also like we remembered. The bread was the... More

This was the first time trying Mel's and the last. Everything was just poor. The food was ok but not good - not alot of taste to the food (seasoning). We had pasta with with marinara and vegetable lasagna The service was ok but not good. The atmosphere is out of the 60's or 70's. Was not worth the drive.

I ordered lobster tails and they were WAY over cooked. Tasted like burnt popcorn. Sad after the price paid, and a shame to overcook such an amazing item. Another person I was with ordered the salmon and it also looked cooked TO DEATH. Unfortunate. However, the fried mozarella was very good and I do like their sauce. Friendly service, I... More

Started going to Mel's over 50 years ago when it was really great. Up until about three years ago it was still very good but has been going down hill for a while, now it's awful and I'm not going back. The meat sauce is very greasy and watery, the fries are burnt, the salad looks and tastes cheap. They... More

Given the history of this place I was expecting some authentic itialin food. Instead it was all cheap low quality food. Ingredients were not fresh, tasted like everything came out of a can or the freezer. If you are in the mood for good itialin food, keep looking, it is not here.

Mel's was tops in the 50's and 60's for its spaghetti, meatballs and fries. The place rocked in those days. In July and August I had to be in the area each weekend and stopped in regularly. The decor is old, 70's horrible. The carpeting needs to be replaced because it is too dirty to clean properly. The service varied... More

The food was very good as was the service. Will definitely eat here again though the atmosphere and food were nothing out of the ordinary or exciting.

We like the food at Mels but the best part of the meal is their hand cut french fries. This time the fries were burnt to a crisp. The waitress took them back but said it was the potatoes this time of year(?). She did offer us a vegetable instead. As we left, we complained to the owner who runs the... More
