Easy access from the highway

The Tavern in a 1776 house is conveniently located between Boston and Cape Cod and easy to reach at Exit 14 from the highway. The service, menu and ambience are both good and comforting. Prices are at the higher end of the range and the wine list, while extensive, tends towards pricier bottles.

After having less than a mediocre meal last Valentine's Day, we decided to give Scarlet Oak Tavern another chance. We were so glad we did! Establishment was packed with a huge bar crowd, as it was a Saturday night. Dined with friends last night...food and service were spot on. Atmosphere is casual steakhouse elegance... dark wood paneling and earth toned... More

Friends and I enjoyed the Scarlet Oak Tavern's excellent service, atmosphere and food recently at Brunch. I had the Smoked Salmon with Capers on Flatbread and enjoyed it, though it would have been better if it was moister. My side order of mixed berries was wonderful. Our corner table next to windows that afforded us a view, couldn't have been... More

Nice looking place. Slow service. Pleasant ambience. Acceptable Eggs Benedict.. Very good Bloody Mary. Cold hash browns. Could not even take a second bite of my Montecristo.. It was that bad. Will not return.

First, the retro fit restaurant into a classic New England home was well done and very quaint. However, for the money, it was ho-hum. We asked locals for a high end recommendation, and The Scarlet Oak was mentioned more than once. Well, they must not travel much because this is not even in my top 50 steakhouses. Food was okay,... Having eaten at one of their other restaurants many times, I expected the same quality of food and service here. That did not happen. The service was okay, not good not bad, just okay. We had a calamari appetizer that was as just plain bland. Bad start. The entrees came out and all four of had steaks that were perfectly... More

Great crab cake appetizer, Steaks and seafood entrees very good. Very active bar social scene. Charming antique venue.

My average rating is more about the overall dining experience as a whole and not the quality of the food I received. I had a 10oz filet minon with sautéed spinach and a baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted pretty good, but I've had better at a cheaper price. The portions of the sides are really small.... More

this is a highly recommended restaurant in town, and my family has been several times. We ate in the bar area, which had a really great vibe and a cozy warm fire. The worst part of the evening was that the service was extremely slow, from the first drink, to the silverware, to the bill. I was also disappointed that... More

The night we went in, it was particularly busy. But we always try to get a table in the tavern -- and it is usually quick. We almost always get the same thing -- I get a few oyster for an appetizer -- The ones that night were fantastically sweet and wonderful. Then we move on to Filets Mignon and... More
