Dinner for14

Considering our large party the service was second to none, the food was well cooked(Ihad sirloin steak tips) the atmosphere was a little pretentious, overall it's well worth a visit.

I've eaten here a few times and have been really pleased. The atmosphere is always great, and the staff is friendly and handles food allergies terrific. But last night the kitchen was having a bad night. Our steaks were way over salted and were charred rather than being seared. The salad was a bit wilted and over dressed. It's not... More

Scarlet Oak used to be one of our favorite places for dinner in Hingham. I remember the first meal we had there years ago was perfection from beginning to end, and we've returned many times but it has increasingly become consistently disappointing. We've noticed lately (and friends have confirmed) that it's getting hard to have a really good experience here.... More

My husband and I dined at the Scarlett Oak and while the food was wonderful as was the service, the atmosphere and other diners were absolutely pretentious! Many of the people in the crowded restaurant were very loud as they discussed what

Great food but not a lot of choices for a pasta lover like myself. The rustic building is very romantic and the service is great but the prices are pretty steep. The drinks are well made and the bar is large and almost always active.

We had brunch for the first time at the tavern before taking our daughter back to the airport for her travel back to school. I started with an order of a few oysters -- which were served fantastic and cold like always. We had a couple of orders of eggs benedict, while our daughter had the avocado eggs benedict. My... The date was April 1. My girlfriend and I were celebrating moving in together and wanted to have a nice dinner along with a good bottle of wine. The tavern was right down the street from our new home and felt serendipitous, so off we went. The parking lot was full at 6 pm on a Wednesday which I took... More

We recently had a wonderful lunch/brunch at Scarlet Oak Tavern. We’ve been there many times before, and it is always such a pleasure to return whether to celebrate a special occasion or just to grab a bite to eat. The menu is varied has something for everyone. We were there on a Sunday early afternoon so had the brunch/lunch menu... More

It was yet another snowy day in New England and my Pal and I were looking for a nice and cozy place with a fire place after some therapy shopping. This is the place. We walked in covered in snow and there was a fire burning and the ambiance was wonderful. We sat at the bar near the pizza oven.... More

The Tavern in a 1776 house is conveniently located between Boston and Cape Cod and easy to reach at Exit 14 from the highway. The service, menu and ambience are both good and comforting. Prices are at the higher end of the range and the wine list, while extensive, tends towards pricier bottles.
