I remember 70+ years ago eating here (it was called the "Toll House" then) every Mother's Day. The inside (and outside) looks much the same and there was a nice mix of families with children as well as adults. The atmosphere is charming, and the menu classic. Marvelous clam chowder, corn bread, lobster rolls, and on and on. The lobster... More

I like to get a nice, fast, but well-cooked meal from time to time. We've been to the Scarlet Oak a number of times, so we went back again the other night. My wife had Lobster and Scallop Rissotto -- very nicely done. I had the Filet Mignon with Asparagus the Corn Succotash. I purposely keep half of my meal... More

This is the 3rd year we have dined here for my husband's birthday - he always gets the 32oz porterhouse and loves it. Says it is perfect in every way. First - the rocky part. We had a reservation for 7 but got there early. Hostess gave us a "buzzer" and said she would be seating the 6.30 people first... More

Our children were at an event for a few hours and Open Table noted a table for two was available at Scarlet Oak Tavern. The restaurant was busy, however we were seated immediately and the great service continued throughout our meal. The appetizers were delicious and the steaks superb! The restaurant is a real gem on the South Shore.

We have enjoyed Sunday Brunch at Scarlet Oak quite a few times over the last four years and our latest visit just reinforced why this restaurant is our go-to place on the South Shore. The exterior of the tavern oozes New England charm and the feel continues in the pub and throughout the dining room with beautiful (if somewhat uneven)... More

First time here, stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday. Loved the interior - old American tavern look and larger than it looks from outside. Service was good, the menu was varied and the food was very good. Anything baked - bread, desserts are a must try. They have their own baker and the produce wonderful stuff Only... More

Wonderful, old, historic building--has been either an inn or restaurant since forever; in Hingham's case that would be 1635 ( town of Hingham, not the Scarlet Oak!). Menu varied and food does not disappoint, but the bar is excellent--fun, great mixologists and bar/pub seating available with special bar snacks menu. Dining room service can be varied at times.

I recently attended a rehearsal dinner here, which was held upstairs in the big room off the bar. I didn't look around downstairs, but the space we were in was very nice. The place definitely has some curb appeal as well. The food was excellent. We had a set menu for the occasion: salad or chowder to start, choice of... More

With out any doubt - this is the best dinning experience. From the minute you walk in the front door, the history and ambiance of this unique structure is present. From farm to table, the fare is exceptional. Everything is made fresh on the premises - You won't be disappointed - Don't forget to ask Kenny (the manager) to tell... More
