Not a huge fan of the serving setup. You wait in line, place your order, then you have to find a seat. So basically, once you've ordered, you're sol if there's no available tables. This setup isn't so bad in the summertime as there are lots of outdoor options. The food is very good, as is their coffee. The delicious... More

This place has been the best eatery in this area (Hadley/Amherst/Noho) for over a decade. The feel is similar to Haven in Stockbridge, which I have also reviewed, so much that I thought they were owned by the same people. They are not I have learned. This place however gets five stars, mainly because the menu is not over priced.... More

Esselon is right up the street from my office, so it is a popular place to go when we want good food. I also have celiac disease. Esselon has an awesome menu that incorporates Gluten Free meals for serious celiacs. They really get it! However, after standing in long lines to order, the real battle begins for a table. All... Stopped mid-afternoon for lunch on a Monday and surprised how busy it was. Some were using the free wi-fi but many were having lunch. We both started with a cup of Tomato, bacon and basil soup which was served in a bowl, but the waiter confirmed that it was the cup size. Excellent soup and generous portion. They did not... More

Located on a busy stretch between Northampton and Amherst, Esselon's parking lot is the first hurdle. People seem to take spaces as suggested guidelines, with cars jumbled in random ways. Most of the time, there is no place to easily park. Once settled, there is a line to order food. Menus are in the front and selections are also written... More

This isn't your usual local restaurant. It's farm to table and very casual dining. You order and pay at the counter and are given a number which you place on your table and your order is brought to the table. I've eaten there twice and both times the food and service has been great. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Outdoor dining... More

I came here with my daughter, a Smith College student, for dinner without knowing anything about the place---its 3 or 4 miles down the road from Smith. The atmosphere is rustically charming, and you order your meal at the counter, although a waiter brings your food out for you. The menu has some creative dishes and is vegetarian- and vegan-friendly.... More

I usually really like this place but today it was not good . The dinner specials were not ready yet so I ordered the chicken sandwich before and enjoyed it but not this time. It took about 25 minutes to get it and the chicken was not cooked right, I don't know if it was undercooked or rubbery but not... More

Ran in here to get coffee and couldn't resist getting some of the gorgeous muffins at the counter. Coffee was good and the muffins were delicious.

have eaten here a bunch of time, for breakfast and lunch. if informal setting, as you order at the counter, and then food is brought to you, and you clear the table. at busy times, can be crowded amongst the tables, and therefore a bit noisy. but it is a fun place to eat, and the food is excellent. can...
