Bizen has some of the best flavors offered for cuisine in the Berkshires. Follow these guidelines for a delicious meal...Their ume scallion salad dressing should not be missed. The rolls are also tasty. I am not a fan of the oysters. I am a fan of the hijiki, agé tofu, any grilled items and lunch specials. Any maki roll whether... More

First off, our server was awesome! She took plenty of time to help show us the various menus and find just the right sake. Have to give kudos to the host as well who found us a good table and made sure we were comfortable. But the food was somewhat of a letdown. We opted for some appetizers and sushi... More

We opted to sit at low tables, where you take off your shoes. The food is always fresh, and delicious. The plates are easily shared, and you always end up ordering too much. The restaurant is busy and noisy, but they have many different seating areas. they offer a full bar, and plum wines and sake. For some reason the... More

When this place first opened, over ten years ago, the deal was you paid above average prices for the area and got very good sushi and put up with haphazard service. Now that Great Barrington is more of a dining mecca, the service seems to have improved (to the point where I'd label it "competent") but the food is decidedly... More

Great location and nice to walk around before or after dinner. The service was great and very fast. Most restaurants seem to take so long to prepare fresh sushi but this was very quick. The menu was so interesting with exciting and creative rolls I have never seen before. We were a large party and each ordered very different items.... More

I'm quite surprised by other reviews stating that Bizen is overrated; the sushi we enjoyed was among the best I've had--so fresh and flavorful, with a gorgeous texture. The grilled eel and boiled shrimp dumplings were stellar as well. Prices were high, true--even compared with Manhattan--so that even if I lived nearby I probably wouldn't be able to frequent the... Unexpectedly good Japanese restaurant. We go there often. The owner studied in Japan; he also makes very good and extremely expensive Bizen-style pottery.

Interesting menu, good soup, decent sushi, good selection of wine, pricey, this is not to die for food, but if you want something light and easy for lunch, not bad

We have been patrons since '97 but missed 3 years. On our return, Michael was great as always. He made us a great sauce with our monkfish liver and an outstanding sea urchin like only he can! Fabulous. Thanks, Michael!

If you are in the mood for sushi - this recent is decent - a bit above average but nothing more. The sushi rolls were nice. The udon soup was relatively tasteless. Nice on tap beer selection
