Where to go for Sushi

By far the very best sushi in the Berkshires. Can get crowded, with the seating tight, but that is a testament to how good the food is. The staff could be a bit friendlier, but overall they do a good job.

There are other sushi places in town, they're ok, but Bizen is amazing. To me it's a spiritual experience to eat there. You could be having fine day, and the food from Bizen will elevate you to the next harmonic level of enlightenment.

Bizen has a wide variety of sushi and sashimi choices, along with an extensive sake and other beverages list. All of our dishes were well-prepared and very nicely-presented. Most of the tableware was made by the owner in his traditional wood-fired kiln. This restaurant can get very crowded at dinnertime, resulting in a line to get in (even when having... More

I LOVE the sushi here, and I strongly recommend going omakase, letting the chef choose. The owner takes the art of sushi quite seriously. Lots of non-sushi options as well. If you have celiac and must eat gluten free, this place is a haven. I had the tempura on my last visit because it was there, and it was fabulous.

To preface, we love sushi/sashimi, and have dined in Japanese restaurants in most major cities and in dozens of countries. Two of our favorites are Masa, in the TimeWarner Center in NYC Masa which transports diners from the busy shopping center into a 26-seat zen-like sushi temple. Chef Masayoshi Takayama is an artist. And Nobu (at least when it first... More

After eating a starch - laden meal the previous night, my body was crying for fresh vegetables. I found them here! The salad was light and fresh, grilled eggplant appetizer was so tender and deliciously smoky, it needed no condiment. I got a huge platter of tempeh, tofu, Seitan and a mountain of lightly grilled vegetables. The ginger sauce on... More

I was ready to try some new maki rolls for a change this summer, but due to the rainy then cool weather, I stuck with the healthy steamed greens with umeboshi plum-scallion dressing and the tiger shrimp tempura with soba noodles. Over the years, Bizen has consistently made these dishes flavorful, never skimping. The tiger shrimp are really fresh, so... More

Went for dinner as someone had mentioned this place. Food was very good, many vegetarian options. Food was cooked perfectly and brought to table pretty quickly. Presentation was very nicely done. We both chose non sushi items. Place was very crowded and the table was quite small. This is understandable due to this restaurant's popularity.
