This is not a restaurant, it is one of the best bakeries, my husband & I visit.

Peter says they have the best scones in town. When we are having company, we go there for bread, rolls etc. A husband and wife team arrive early to create and bake all the baked goods for the day. You have to arrive early, they sell out almost every day.

My husband considers himself a brownie aficionado. He's sampled brownies from bakeries and home kitchens everywhere. When he finally had a brownie from Alexandra's, he knew he'd tasted brownie nirvana. I think that holds true for all of their offerings. Shopping here is an experience, and I wonder why they've never been featured on Chronicle or similar shows. Not only... More

This is a local bakery that makes enough to sell all of their product everyday. The bread is the old fashioned style heavy bread. The schones are to kill for.

Alexandra's has a number of fabulous, non-food items for sale. Salt cellars, handbags, licorice--a very nice selection of temptations. But the big temptation is the spicy olive bread. I took one home on a Friday and as a result went back on Saturday for another. They had already sold out Saturday's run! I will return.

Run by a young couple who have dedicated their life to making fresh French bread every week. Either get there early of place and order because their bread sells out quickly.

They make the best scones, cookies and bread ever. Super friendly service and this family owned business is a treasure in Gloucester. You can skip the beaches but don't skip the scones or you will be disappointed.

They said the cranberry scones were unbeatable. They said the olive bread was delicious. They were right. When staying in Gloucester it is our family's tradition to have breakfast on the beach at least once. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to pick up some morning goodies at Alexandra's. We were not disappointed. Best. Scones. Ever.

if you can get it! They sell out very quickly! But if you need it for a party lets say, you can call ahead and reserve the number of loaves you need. This bread is so good that it is a repeat request for our roving dinner party people (foodies all).

This is, truly, the best bread you have ever tasted. I bring it with me whenever I'm invited to dinner anywhere. (I always say, "I'll bring the bread and cookies." After which,....they always say...."don't come again unless you bring Alexandra's Bread and cookies." The cranberry scones are also the "best" you will have ever eaten. The rolls made from the... The store is tiny, a mom and pop operation. The hours are brief: it's better to order your bread or cookies by phone the night before. BUT the bread is fabulous: textured, tasty, keeps well. This is REAL bread. There are also insane cranberry scones, chocolate biscotti and chunky homemade cookies. The store is also packed with colorful and nostalgic... More
