Order take out when they are busy and the lines long - eat at the beach - if your order a bowl of chowder for take out you will get the same as two cups for far less $- Best prices at lunch - somewhat noisy since they updated floors with tile - Truly Excellent fish chowder - Swordfish Caesar... If you like fried food, this is your place! We stopped in after a day of deep sea fishing (catching!) for lunch. There was about a 20 minute wait for a table for four at 2pm. the place is definitely where many locals go, it's short on appearances and the bathroom was less than clean. the batter on the calamari... No question about it. Very large portions & well worth the wait. Appetizers are great & so are the main course. You can never go away hungry. Every thing was great. A must . BE PREPARED TO WAIT. For a real treat, sit at the counter & watch your food being prepared

Got there, very noisy atmosphere, bad acoustics in the small restaurant. Had to wait in line for a table so decided to get food "to-go". Got it rather quickly. thought hmmmm. Got home and it was some of the best food I've eaten in Gloucester, I can only imagine how good it would have been right from the fryolator eating... More

Causeway hardly needs the publicity to attract more patrons as it is usually crowded especially on a summer day. Open year round, the seafood is fresh off the boat, and simple fair. No alcohol license so byob which adds to the cheapness of the place. So much food that you can have leftovers for dinner the next night. Or do... More

Yup! A "go to" when in Gloucester. Don't expect anything, except fried food. Tables are really close together. But, you will always get your money's worth.

I live in western Pa and visit the Boston area several times a year. We don't have any type of fresh seafood where I live so to get great fish is a plus. This was the first time to the Causeway and got there in the off peak hour, around 2:30. Was seated and Im a lover of whole belly... More

One year later we found ourselves once again able to make a stop in Gloucester and of course make the requisit trip to the Causeway Restaurant for dinner. The place never disappoints in that the meals are fresh homemade and the portions are quite frankly just ridiculously large. This time we knew better than to get 2 entrees and just... More
