If you are looking for great food and plenty of it, this is the place for you. We lucked out by getting a table right away at 4 and promptly ordered. This is an efficient operation, everybody was being served promptly - our food was very hot when it came out. My husband ordered the Pete's platter and it really... More

After a whale watching trip my wife and I stopped to eat before heading to Maine. I had a bowl of claim chowder and my wife had the fish chowder which were delicious. I ordered the fried scallops and my wife ordered the baked haddock which were delicious. Now we have a meal for tomorrow because the portions were tremendous.... More

Great local Sunday lunch. There was a wait because it is small but that makes it gives it more authenticity!

We met some friends at the Causeway for an early Sunday lunch at 11:30 and were able to get a table before it got busy. This was our second visit. A "cup" of the delicious Causeway fish chowder is the size of a "bowl" anywhere else; the "bowl" at the Causeway is really a meal-sized portion. As other reviewers have... More

Wow: the food here was outstanding. Local place across from the water: indoor seating: and gets crowded at times and loud. The food is excellent. Huge amount about 30 fried oysters along with a mountain of fries: everyone was taking doggie bags. The oysters were lightly battered and fried to perfection. My husband got the Peter's Platter that had fried... More

We dropped by on the Friday of Labor Day weekend and the wait was twenty minutes. Not really a problem except that the mosquitoes were ravenous (bring bug spray!). Server was super friendly and helpful. We shared a cup of clam chowder (outrageously rich and delicious but portion was more like a bowl), fried calamari appetizer (the usual) and an... More

We were in Rockport for a wedding and asked where to go for dinner in Gloucester. We were told that the Causeway was where the locals go. Had to drive through Gloucester and the turn away from the harbor to find this location. Got there after 6:00 on a Thursday and there was a 30 min wait. Not a very... More

We actually stumbled across the Causeway Restaurant on our way home from a day in Gloucester ... and were we glad we did! What attracted us initially was the groups of people waiting outside (which told us the place must be good!) ... and was it ever! The food is fresh, delicious and well worth the wait.

Went there with several colleagues after a business meeting. The food was excellent. All the seafood was fresh. We has mussels, clams, lobster pie and a fish platter. Everyone was satisfied. The portions were excellent. The only drwaback was that it was bring your own booze and we did not know.

Great seafood especially fish chowder. The Seafood Marinara was great. Need to go early at around 11 otherwise there can be wait of 25 min or so.
