We were in Rockport for a wedding and asked where to go for dinner in Gloucester. We were told that the Causeway was where the locals go. Had to drive through Gloucester and the turn away from the harbor to find this location. Got there after 6:00 on a Thursday and there was a 30 min wait. Not a very... More

We actually stumbled across the Causeway Restaurant on our way home from a day in Gloucester ... and were we glad we did! What attracted us initially was the groups of people waiting outside (which told us the place must be good!) ... and was it ever! The food is fresh, delicious and well worth the wait.

Went there with several colleagues after a business meeting. The food was excellent. All the seafood was fresh. We has mussels, clams, lobster pie and a fish platter. Everyone was satisfied. The portions were excellent. The only drwaback was that it was bring your own booze and we did not know.

Great seafood especially fish chowder. The Seafood Marinara was great. Need to go early at around 11 otherwise there can be wait of 25 min or so.

I was introduced to THE CAUSEWAY by our friends, Anne & Ronnie, who lived in Gloucester for over 40 years! It's not near anything scenic. It's kind of off the beaten path. It's not near anything that would draw you there other than the restaurant itself. This is their "go to" restaurant when they want a delicious, supersize, no fanfare... More

This IS THE PLACE to go for fish! We've been here quite a few times, and it just gets better and better,. Everything we've tried is delicious. The fish chowder is amazing! Full of big chunks of fish in a tasty broth. The fried clams and the "Peters Platter" are humungous! Full of fresh fish, and fries and coleslaw. Too... More

Over the years we have been to the Causeway many times, always worth putting up with the crowds, and the wait because of the quality and quantity of the food, but for some reason both have gone down. While standing outside waiting to be called, I noticed the exhaust fan, it was absolutely disgusting, covered with grease and dirt, I... More

This is a small restaurant, nothing fancy about the interior, but the food is excellent. The fisherman's platter is plentiful and the salmon was excellent. Prices are quite reasonable. This is a very busy place, so do not expect to "linger".

OMG, The Causeway! Locally famous for huge portions, great food, extremely reasonable on price. Don't expect to get a table soon if you arrive near the dinner hour--there is always a line. BYOB. This is not a place for ambience if you want something quiet and romantic, but it is a great place for a casual dinner with friends.
