Don't judge The Causeway from the outside . . .

Had I not read reviews first, I probably would not have eaten here based on its location and lack of any exterior charm at all. It is well worth the extra few minutes outside of Gloucester center to get here. We waited 30 minutes at around 1:30 pm on a hot summer afternoon. The portions are... read more

The Causeway usually has a waiting line; dining area is always crowded. The menu has a great variety; portions are large and the prices are good.

Went twice in the past week, once with visiting family and once with old friends. Both times the meals were outstanding - the portions are very generous and delicious. Everyone ordered different items and all were very pleased and full. BYOB is always a bonus. The biggest drawback is the wait but well worth it.

Read the reviews prior to traveling to Gloucester for a whale watch and decided we needed to try this one. Whale watch ran late and we decided to try a restaurant closer to hotel as we were not sure of its location and we had been warned of long lines. Decided to go for lunch the next day. We showed... Very casual and busy place. Prices are great. No frills but fabulous fresh fish. Mostly fried fish, but very fresh. Small, expect a wait, but extremely fast service.

We used to live in Gloucester and now vacation there every year, so we have no idea how the Causeway slipped under our radar but now we are fans for life. First, it's true that it's very busy. We went on a Wednesday about 5 and still had a 10 minute wait. We tried to go back on a Saturday... More

We were recommended by a local to eat this restaurant; she did say it was a very popular place. For us it was OK, it is a taste of New England but you we were looking for something more upscale. My daughter order shrimp scampi and it all honesty the pasta was swimming in olive oil. When she saw that,... More

Ate here two years ago and liked it so much we came back again. It is a smaller restaurant and that is the only thing small about it. The portions of food are delicious and hugh! My husband and I split lobster pie which came with coleslaw and baked potato and that was enough for both of us. There always... More

You will be squished into a table elbowing others. People come from all over as good and so reasonable. can get take out. also can... More

I have heard about Causeway Restaurant for several years. I was so excited to finally get there. The place is small which is fine. The atmosphere rustic, nautical. The location offers nothing. So why does this restaurant have such a good reputation? Great Food? That is what I thought The the portions are beyond huge. The problem, the food is... More
