Authentic cooking with fresh ingredients and nice presentation. Special for the day (fish dish) price was on the high side.

The cod was perfectly done, but the salads were overdressed, and the appetizers were oily. Service was great and the atmosphere was peaceful and warm and intimate. Definitely worth coming too, but need to be vigilant about how you order.

OK! What a surprise! We tried this place for the first time last week, and now it's on my TOP 5 List for good dining in Gloucester. We ate early evening midweek before the solstice ushered in the summer rush. It's a beautiful bar and room, comfortable upholstered booths and also tables street level. Not crowded, cool and friendly. Jen... More

The Franklin is reliably very good. The menu changes seasonally and always includes some seafood and at least one vegetarian option. There are always some specials, too. The food is fresh and well-prepared, they have a great drinks menu and the service is usually excellent. It's a bit upscale, so probably not the place for small children. The downstairs area... More

My wife and I have tried most of the restaurants is Gloucester, a marvelous seaside town, the real-deal. The Franklin is our favorite, our go-to place, by ourselves and with friends. Has been for years. Nice atmosphere, cozy bar downstairs, a second bar upstairs great for watching the B's, Sox, or Pats, really good food that is reasonably priced. We're... More

Last month, my husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at the Franklin Cape Ann. We could not have been happier with our choice! We were able to have the second floor to ourselves with a private room and bar which was great. From the early planning stages, the manager Maria was a great resource and she and her staff... More

During a trip to Gloucester I ate here and at Duckworth's. This place was fine, but not exceptional like Duckworth's. Service was very good. It was quite crowded, being a Friday night, and noisy. It would not be a good place if your hearing was not up to par. Parking took a long time to find.

N42°36.760' W70°39.794' Recommended as one of the best restaurants in Gloucester, this restaurant has a modern New American menu with daily fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables. Looking forward to enjoy their menu in August 2013, we entered a time warp of super-fast service. Ordering had to be done instantly before looking at the menu. The raw oysters as an entrée... More
