Six of us enjoyed dinner here on a cold evening a week ago. We all had different appetizers or salads - grilled calamari which was tender in a light lemon sauce, 4 had the Caesar salad and loved it, followed by a swordfish special w/ lobster sauce, steak w/ the best pommes frites you'll ever have, the half chicken, etc.... Has the best grilled calamari appetizer in or out of town! Good service and will accommodate a gluten free diet.

Without reservations, we sat at the bar; within minutes the restaurant was full so we were lucky. The bartender made a superb rob roy as we read the menu of many choices. It was tempting to dine on a collection of appetizers but instead chose a splendid cod dish and a special tuna on greens. The fish was perfectly done... More

This is a perfect place for dinner. The service was terrific, great drinks, and delicious food. We ordered the cod which was wonderful. Get there a little early or be prepared to wait...it fills up quickly but is worth the wait.

Arrived in Gloucester late and our only option was Franklin's. I'm happy that it was because the food was simply amazing. Best burger and fries I've ever had. Do not let the pricy menu detour you from eating here, you will not be disappointed. We also took a chance on an orange creme desert and it was awesome

Franklin's surprised us... we just weren't expecting it to be this good... the reviews are good, but the restaurant is worthy of better reviews in our humble opinion. There was actually nothing we didn't like... the service was attentive, the food was fabulous and we were never without drinks :-) Really great place to eat and would most definitely recommend... Authentic cooking with fresh ingredients and nice presentation. Special for the day (fish dish) price was on the high side.

First Class Place, busy and nice atmosphere. Went there for drinks and hear the Thursday night music. It was excellent

The cod was perfectly done, but the salads were overdressed, and the appetizers were oily. Service was great and the atmosphere was peaceful and warm and intimate. Definitely worth coming too, but need to be vigilant about how you order.

OK! What a surprise! We tried this place for the first time last week, and now it's on my TOP 5 List for good dining in Gloucester. We ate early evening midweek before the solstice ushered in the summer rush. It's a beautiful bar and room, comfortable upholstered booths and also tables street level. Not crowded, cool and friendly. Jen... More
