Starts off with good selection of Mex beers and Margs. Good chips and salsa. Interesting menu of traditional mexican dishes everyone is familiar with as well as some more unusual items...One of my favorites is the Pay Azteca....a chicken & squash dish with lots of green tomatillo sauce and cilantro.

We just visited jalapeños whilst vacationing in rock port. We happened upon the restaurant and what a find it was ! The food was excellent and we were entertained by top notch musicians. An excellent evening and superb value for money. Check it out!

Restaurant was busy due to downtown block party so we sat at the bar. Started with cocktails which were fine. Complimentary nacho chips & salsa were OK, but salsa was needed some zing. We split seafood soup, which was bland & missing something. We added S&P, which helped. Finally, we split a chimichunga (spelling?) with rice. Both were bland but... More

We recently took our grandchildren here while on vacation in Gloucester, thinking it would be a nice change from the seafood we all had been eating, We were so wrong. The food was just ok & very bland. It was not hot when we received it, only lukewarm & the beans had a film on them like they had been... More

I think the title says it all -- pretty grossed out. Place was dirty and food bland. Nothing looked fresh and the rice was dry.

Our party of four arrived at 5:30 on a weekday. The restaurant was quiet & we were promptly seated at a large table. I was very impressed with the extensive choices for margaritas! The steak tip dinner was well presented and tasty. As it was delivered with rice & beans, I remembered the menu stated it comes with diners choice... More

We always eat at Jalapenos when we come to the Rockport/Gloucester area. They serve freshly made salsa with your chips. Along with typical Mexican fare, there are many seafood-based dishes. And they have a large margarita menu!

We are always excited to find decent mexican food on the east coast. Coming from California we have high standards for mexican food, which most places fail to live up to. Jalapeno's has very good margaritas and good enchiladas (I had chicken). Portions are big when you include sides so come hungry!

Gracious and informal hosts and service. Large selection of outstanding margaritas. Excellent food. Extensive menu. Good selection of seating areas. This is not a TexMex or ersatz Mexican place. Parking can be and usually is a challenge. Is extremely noisy, especially on weekends. Best to avoid the large dining area at those times or go really early.

As an expatriated Californian, I am underwhelmed by Mexican food in New England. Alas, Jalepenos!!! This is some really good stuff. My favorite, chili rellenos, are particularly hard to recreate from California or New Mexico. These did the trick. Roasted poblanos, tasty batter, spicy!! Guacamole was good too and we also had some tasty sirloin fajitas. I'll be back.
