We recently stayed at the Cape Ann Motor Inn and our hotel host recommended the Topside Grill. We had delicious lobster dinners there, excellent service, very good prices/value and the atmosphere was very nice-local funky with a bit of romance, too. The owner/manager was extremely friendly and hospitable and thanked us personally for coming. The experience was so good we... more

We happened into the Topside during restaurant week and had dinner in the Pub. It felt like local Gloucester. no stuffy formality or designer diva, just comfy. The bar had a great mix of twenty thirty and fifty somethings and good music in the background. People were chatting across the bar and sitting around the smattering of tables. I had... more

I have been to the Topside several times now, both in their bar and the restaurant. My dinner experience was awesome. Our waiter Jim was friendly, professional and very effecient and the food was great. The bar has live music on Thursdays and it's a good spot to grab a drink with some friends. If you don't like something on... more

Not sure why this happens @ restaurants and not sure if this was a fluke for this place but we decided to grab "pub food" on the pub side of the restaurant while the football game was on. They advertised the regular stuff you get in pubs on their menu........fries, burgers, wings...etc. When the waitress took our order, she said... more

This was our first visit to Topside having just moved to the area a few months ago. We were walking by and commented on how quaint it looked so we stopped in for lunch. We ordered the fishcakes, haddock sandwich, au gratin, and steak tips. Although the haddock sandwich was decent, everything else we ordered was truely awful. After a... more

My husband and I came across this pub during the block party in October 2008. Don't let the casual atmosphere fool you. The food is top notch, including the desserts, and affordable. The owner circulated around the bar and dining areas, greeting and chatting with customers. We felt like we were guests in his home. Waitstaff and hostesses are pleasant,... more

I had the Baked Stuffed Shrimp four large shrimp individually stuffed with the best stuffing I have ever eaten it was simply delicous. We also... more

This is by far the best restaurant on Cape Ann and we have lived here for 46 years. The Haddock AuGratin was the freshest presentation ever! It is usually a lunch item, but we got there after 4 PM and the waitress called the owner, Dennis Silva, to see if we could have it and we did! I guess the... more

My wife and I go to Gloucester a few times every summer (from Boston) and this was our first time visiting The Topside Grill. We have been to many restaurants in town and have had a few favorites here and there. I have to say that this has by far blown all other places out of the water. We arrived... more
