The food is prepared in the old fashioned manner of the Azores. Derek and him father bring a taste of the old country to the states. They have been cooking meals in this fashion for many years. The shrimp "clipper" style is out of this world If you like liver this is the best if you don't care for liver... More

I've never had Portuguese food but we decided to try it anyways. The server was super nice but because we were unfamiliar with the food titles, we just asked for the recommendations. We had the shrimp app which was really good. It was a butter, garlic, and hot sauce mix. I had the clipper steak which was a huge portion.... More

Ate at Clipper several weeks ago with two women from Portugual. One had just arrived and the other has been here 20 plus years. The decor has an old Portuguese look. Probably hasn't changed since they opened. Our waiter was from the Azores so somewhat authentic. We ordered two orders of codfish cakes as starters. After waiting about half an... More

In response to "Hangout", you must have been on the barside of the restaurant not the dining side. The restaurant owner does not allow "hanging out" in the dining room. However, as far as my rating goes....this is the best Portuguese restaurant by far. I lived in Swansea most of my life and looked forward to dining at the Clipper... More

I live in the city, and this was my first visit to the Clipper. It will not be my last. The food was just delicious. From the time we walked in until the time we left everything was great. The waiter was wonderful and could not do enough for us. I would guess that if I were in Portugal, this... More

Recently went to Clipper Restaurant after a recommendation from my son-in-law. I was apprehensive given that in the summer there are men who stand outside and I thought that the place would just be a glorified bar. Well, the food was excellent, the restaurant was clean as a whistle and the server, tho a bit preoccupied with a social call... More

This place was a great find in area that has seen better days. The bartender hardly spoke a word of english but at least brought someone voer that did to assist in our order. We just split a steak, but it was cooked perfeclty, topped with a huge amount of roast garlic. If you don't like garlic, this place may... More

The food was excellent. We had Portuguese soup, salted cod fish boiled, shredded, and fried with potatoes and onions. I took home leftovers for 3 more meals. We had flan and a half bottle of Portuguese wine. The atmosphere was homey and the waiter was very helpful.
