We have been eating at Margarets for many years. The food has always been very good ,although the menu did need some 'updating'. On Saturday , we again went to Margarets and the menu, including the 'Specials' ,appeared reworked with many new items. The 4 of us had very different meals ---lobster and scallop cassoulet, haddock with stuffing(loaded with scallops), porcini... Came for monday night dinner and will not come back. Maybe it was simply because it was monday night and they are closed tues? We didnt order any apps. Swordfish portions were smaller than any place ive been. Taste/flavor was average-not great, not bad. 5 small pieces of asparagus? Thats it? For $20? Other person had haddock that was WAY over... After spending the day on Martha's Vineyard and taking the fast ferry from New Bedford we decided to take our friends to Margaret's in Fairhaven,a short drive from the ferry dock. We had frequented Margaret's many times many years ago and was always impressed with the quality ,and value of the food. Margaret's is a very quaint house converted to... More

It was our first visit and we loved it. The fried scallops and fish and chips were great. Service was quick - we beat the lunch crowd and it was mid week. I'm sure weekends ate very crowded since it is very small.

Recently, I introduced my wife to Acushnet Golf course which is a bit of a drive from our home in Stoughton, MA. We were hooked up with another couple who were very pleasant and we hit it off nicely. When the round was finished we asked them for a good "local place" with an ocean view. They told us about... More

I am originally from the New Bedford area and tough I now live in California, I am back in Massachusetts frequently, and Margaret's is always my "go-to" place for great breakfasts and lunches! The menu is SO innovative and varied, and yet virtually without exception, everything I have tried has been wonderful. I can't think of another place where you... More

First day had apple cinnamon pancakes, my husband had eggs with fruit cup. Coffee passed even his fussiness. Excellent service, small spot. Went back the next day, and enjoyed Norwegian pancakes (get them with strawberries on the side - no need for syrup), while he had regular pancakes with sausage. Highly recommend this spot - park in lot across the... More

Hopefully if you eat in the restaurant the food will be good but I will not take the chance. I have been for breakfast and it is always great but we decided to try a dinner this time and were very dissapointed. It was over an hour wait on a sat night so we ordered the food to go the... More

We visit Margarets almost every Sunday for breakfast. They have the best cheese rolls in the South Coast area. The service is always quick and friendly, and the food is always great. Dinner at Margarets never disappoints. There are plenty of fresh seafood specials. We also love the fact that is a BYOB.

Let me start by admitting that I caught them on an odd night. We walked in and were told that the wait was 30-40 minutes. Too long for me but the people we were with like this restaurant and they wanted to wait. The waiting area is an odd little room located upstairs from the restaurant. A place to wait... More
