Good Fooe

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday and enjoyed our meal. We ordered the seafood combination platter which came with clams, shrimp, scallops and sole plus fries and onion rings. It is order at the counter and they bring the food to your table which is fine since it is kind of a beachy vacation... read more

We have been coming here for years and consider it the best seafood in the Essex area. The lines are less long than Woodman's, the prices are better, and frankly, the quality of the food is superior too. Best fried scallops and shrimp anywhere. Highly recommended!

If you are within 50 miles of Essex, just go to JT Farnham's. There are some nice sites to visit in the Essex/Ipswich area that can be used to rationalize your trip, but you are going for the seafood chowda. Probably the best bowl of soup/stew/chowder I've had. Additionally, the fried clams and lobster roll were very good. JT Farnham's... More

We had scallops and clams and they were both very fresh, and cooked perfectly. The fry was very good; with clean oil at the right temperature. I was dissapointed with the salad. It was just boring. They forgot the dressing, but even after i added it, it was still boring. I would have expected more food for the prices they... More

Farnham's quality of frying is inimitable - less greasy than the Clam Box. We have never been disappointed by the clam strips and the calamari. The breading is light and crispy, and never separates from the seafood. Their self-serve/all-you-can-eat tartar sauce generosity is notable. You can add grilled hot dog rolls to your order for $0.50 each even if you... More

Farnhams: great views, limited parking, no plastic, get in line, place your order and enjoy! What you see is what you get. Best bet: get the spicey seafood chowder and the regular seafood chowder to go. Then mix them together for an audacious meal.

It's excellent seafood, but you have to expect a lengthy wait. It's a cash-only business and they aren't the friendliest people. However, the food's awesome and that's all I came for. Great place! Def try it! I will definitely be back again sometime.
