View alone is worth the price of the seafood

The "best clam" debate (Woodman's? Essex Seafood? Ipswich Clam Box? Nate's in Rockport?) is a seasonal ritual around Cape Ann and Ipswich, but I don't think there can be a debate on the clam shack with the best view and this is the place that's got it. Inside or out, how can you argue with a view... read more

Our Family of 4 shared a casual Father's day lunch at J. T. Farnham's... We had the fried clams and scallops which I have to say were the best we had during our New England vacation... We also enjoyed the seafood chowder which was deliciously loaded with shrimp, lobster, scallops and clams... The service was excellent and the location on... More

We've been coming to Farnham's for years and it's always been great. We were really looking forward to our first fried clams of the summer. When we got there on Saturday night, there was a line and the service was slower than usual which we attributed to the feature on Phantom Gourmet that aired that day. No worries, it's worth... More

Farnham's has by FAR the best fried clams in the area! Much better than Woodman's and the Ipswich Clam Box! Farnham's is a small, simple clam shack overlooking the Essex salt marshes and distant sand dunes of Crane's beach. In nice weather you can eat outside on picnic benches, or eat in. All the seafood I've had here is fresh,... More

We enjoyed this place very much. Can't say it was the best fried clams we had, but definitely up there. Nice batter and sweet clams. But was missing something. The view from this place is incredible!!

if you're a lover of fried clams, this is the place to go. One of the best places to get them. Onion rings are not to be missed. The only down side is the difficulty parking because it is so popular.

Great fried seafood, less frenetic than Woodman's, beautiful view of the salt marsh but busy road just behind makes for noisey outdoor dining. Adjoining Essex County Geen Belt property is gorgeous alternative spot to picnic but fried seafood really doesn't travel well! Fish taco was interesting but you will be disappointed if you like Baja style, it's not made with... More

My family of four went tonight and split a 2 way combo of fried lobster and clams and it was awesome. There's nothing like good food in a relaxing environment. The staff was also very nice.

Farnham’s was the #1 destination for 7 of us who were back in the area a 50th high school reunion. It's a small, unassuming place with parking for a dozen cars and half a dozen picnic tables overlooking the salt marsh. It was a cool, gray day and business was brisk but we had no trouble getting two adjoining tables... More

We have been coming here for years and consider it the best seafood in the Essex area. The lines are less long than Woodman's, the prices are better, and frankly, the quality of the food is superior too. Best fried scallops and shrimp anywhere. Highly recommended!
