This is located on the Essex strip, certainly is upscale from Woodman's. We took my 88 year old mother for lunch and it pleased her very much. Wait staff was very attentive, but the wait for our lunch was a bit long. In fairness they were very crowded. All the meals were fine with the exception of the pasta dish... More

We have been going to Perriwinkles for years and after visiting twice this summer have crossed it off the list. Seafood platter was just ok, clams were soggy and scallops were cut into small pieces before frying. Visited this past Saturday night with another couple from out of state and was very disappointed . I know you don't go to... More

It was one of those perfect New England days. Pan Seared Halibut prepared to perfection. Excellent value and service.

Periwinkles is the perfect New England coastal eatery. Housed in an old wooden building on the edge of a small working marina, it's a great place to dine after a visit to nearby Crane's Beach. The baked haddock was just right - not overcooked - and the ambience was mellow as we watched ducks swim along the creek below us.... More

I try to eat at Periwinkle's once each summer because I love sitting on their deck on a beautiful summer day watching the boats go in and out of the Essex River. This year I treated myself to a lobster meal and I wasn't disappointed in any way. The lobster was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. I wanted something besides... More

Just a nice little place along the water in Essex. Nothing special - just comfortable. Friendly, homey service and good food. Just an enjoyable, laid back experience in the quiet town of Essex - New England at its best.

We recently had a great meal at Periwinkles in Essex. The setting is really nice there – right on the Essex River with indoor/outdoor dining options. We chose indoor with a window view. There were four of us (two couples) and what initially brought us there was a Groupon voucher … but it was the delicious food and wonderful service... More

This restaurant was recommended by a business colleague. It is a small restaurant on the Essex River. If you are visiting the area, recommending tying in a sight seeing trip to visit this historic and picturesque Massachusetts town, and include lunch or dinner in this outstanding restaurant as part of your visit. The menu was mostly seafood, with a handful... More

My husband and I went to Periwinkles with our Groupon. We ordered a half ceasar salad and a cup of chowder to share. The half salad was very tasty and plenty for both of us; the chowder was delicious! We also ordered two of the specials - fried flounder and fried oysters. They we both very tasty and the batter... Haven't eaten here for a number of years. Had a wonderful lunch, sharing a BIG (wonderful) clam chowder, an order of Flounder/Chips, and delicious order of calamari WITH fried peppers. Both the clam chowder & calamari were among the BEST ever. The flounder was also "light" and lovingly/perfectly fried. It was also a BEAUTIFUL day and we had a desirable... More
