We used to go to Tom Shea's for lunch several times every summer, however we have not been been there in about five years. Last week we found the restaurant is more attractive, .the interior has been redecorated and the decks are nicer. My husband was looking forward to the firied clams, but he hesitated when he was told the... More

The menu is daunting - much more expensive than we're accustomed to but we decided to splurge. The food was excellent with adequate portions. Scallops and chips & shrimp scampi and pasta at over $25.00 each means we won't be affording frequent visits. The service was flawless and the river sunset view would be hard to top. Addition of options... More

Food always tastes better with a great view and the view from the outside deck at Tom Shea's is outstanding. We visited for lunch on a perfect New England day, mid seventies with low humidity, and the outside deck was very comfortable. Service was friendly and professional. The “award winning clam chowder” (I am always left to wonder how many... More

We went to Shea's for lunch because we were given a gift certificate. After reading the reviews I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was excellent and the view was outstanding. We started with the calamari which was very good. The sandwiches we got for lunch were good and the portions were quite generous. We will definitely... More

We went to Shea's with friends and it was a nice evening out on the deck, watching the boats go down the river. I had the broiled salmon with the crisped arugula and blueberry sauce which made for an interesting combination. The surf and turf was the favorite meal at our table and the drinks were fun and potent. Next... More

After a couple of hours at the beach, my husband, son, daughter and law, grandson and I were on our way to Woodman's for a casual lunch. The very long line was a deterrent with a sleeping toddler so we happened upon Shea's just across the street. Without a reservation, they were very accommodating on Father's Day and set us... More

We try and go to dinner with our son once a week. We had received a gift certificate to Shea's in Essex so we had our family night there. Although the few is lovely and the dining room is nice the food is not worth it. We started with a calamari app as we always like to try the different... More

We went around 8:30 on a Friday night (without a reservation) and didn't have any wait for a table. The menu had a good selection (and several vegetarian/gluten-free choices). The waitress was attentive but didn't hover. We had fisherman's platter and the tempeh tacos. The fish was nicely fried; light batter and not at all greasy. I felt that $7... More

The view of the Essex river is great however the food is OK but nothing out of the ordinary. I would not return because of the service. It is just too bad for this restaurant has one of the best location in Essex.
