Took my daughter and her friends to Shea's by boat from Bay View, Gloucester. Quick word to mariners: don't use your chartplotter past the government marks. Strictly follow local markers since the winter storms shift the sandy bottom around significantly from year to year (don't ask me how I know). I have a long history with Shea's - have been... More

We love this restaurant for the seafood and the view. Always delicious food and great service and we love the tables by the windows for the outstanding Essex River view. Lovely deck outside as well.

We love this place. They have outdoor seating, but we always sit at the bar in front of the giant windows overlooking the river. The boat traffic and people watching is great. The food is really good. Perfect steamers. I also love the avocado and cucumber so and the gumbo. The vegetarian spring rolls are great (they offer a vegetarian... More

Sheas have expanded their ouside deck. This restaurant is one of our favorites. Good sandwiches, good drinks, and a very relaxed atmosphere.

I've been to Tom Shea's a number of times this summer. They've recently added a second outdoor deck with various seating options; bar seating that faces the beautiful Essex River as well as table seating. Great meals here are the tuna appetizer, fried clam appetizer, and their homemade smoked salmon is really unique and delicious - flaky and fresh texture,... More

If you pilot your boat or drive your car, the food and view are worth the effort. The hostess and waitress are welcoming. We had a window view of the boats, marsh and ocean. Wide windows are across the restaurant as well as outside seating. This is one of the few places from Essex to Newburyport that you get a... More

Recently went here with some friends on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and had asked to sit outside on the deck. There are two decks, one is the original, which we were seated on and one is newer. The views are beautiful of the marsh and the seating was nice, but the chairs were uncomfortable. After looking over... More

We went to this restaurant after cruising with the nearby Essex River Cruises. We sat on the riverfront deck which is very pleasant. We had the spinach and avocado dip, which was good. Comes with deep fried pita chips. Spinach was fresh (not frozen). I had steamers, which were very good, and my adult daughter had the special hanger steak... More

We used to go to Tom Shea's for lunch several times every summer, however we have not been been there in about five years. Last week we found the restaurant is more attractive, .the interior has been redecorated and the decks are nicer. My husband was looking forward to the firied clams, but he hesitated when he was told the... More
