Great food with a view of the water

Stopped in for lunch after antiquing in the town. We were seated at a table by the window and could watch birds. There is a dock where you can tie up your boat. Outside seating as well as inside. There is a nice bar with a nice beer and wine menu. Our server was very prompt, courteous and... read more

Had a pleasant lunch at Sheas Riverside. We could always rely on 'Tom's' for a wonderful Essex river view, and great meal. The view is still wonderful, but alas, the cuisine this week was less so. Our shrimp cocktail appetizer was bland, and its horseradish-cocktail sauce too recently out of the freezer (i.e., solid). The Haddock Provençal was OK, but... More

Stopped in on a Perfect Storm Rainy Sunday for a beverage, snack and Marsh scenery. We were welcomed and had a great seat with a wonderful view of the Tidal Marsh. Service and food were excellent with Steamed Mussels and Fried Clams. We will be back and I highly recommend Shea's on any weather day.

Great views either from inside or the deck in warm weather. Service was average...she didn't seem overly friendly. I had the crab cake BLT, which was good. My husband's chowder was good also, but his fish special of the day was tiny and around $20...not a great value and if he hadn't had the chowder, would've left hungry. Nothing very... More

Many years ago we had uninteresting meals here. More recently, with a regime change and operating as Shea's Riverside, we've had lots of good lunches over past five years. So it seemed a natural place to take friends from Canada to dinner. The setting / view is great, over the river and salt marsh. The good: all our starters (chowder,... More

This restaurant was highly recommended to us. We stopped for a late lunch on our drive from Marblehead to Kennebunk. When we tried to order the lobster roll we were told they were out of lobster and when we asked for bread to go with our salad we were told they were out of bread! The food we did order... More

Met a friend for dinner. Beautiful evening.... first day of fall. Sat on the deck and took in the beautiful views. There is plenty of seating indoors as well. Close to the marina, watched paddle boarders, boats and some dogs romp in the marsh. Very relaxing. Menu had many good options, mostly seafood. We had wine and split fried clam... More

The food is OK here, but not outstanding or memorable. The oysters, however, are very good: plump, fresh and briny. Paired with sparkling wine or Sauvignon Blanc, it's perhaps for a light lunch or pre-dinner appetizer.

After a day of sightseeing in Gloucester, decided to try Shea's for a nice seafood dinner. We wanted to be able to sit down, relax, be cool, and be served. There was a small crowd at the entrance so we thought we might have to wait, but were pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately in a lovely room upstairs that... More

We usually go to Woodman's across the street, but this time we felt like a nicer atmosphere for a sit down dinner. So we thought we would try this place. We are so glad we did. The restaurant was busy but we were quickly able to get a table for two. The hostess was very pleasant as was the waitress... More
